I got one yesterday. Anyone else get one? As soon as it stops snowing I'll start breaking it in. (maybe should have gotten one of those snowmobiles at Walmart! LOL) My RC store guy put the box in front of me and I checked it out. I went home and looked it up online. It seemed to have a lot of good ideas so I went back and got it. I like that all my TMAXX wheel and tire set-ups will fit on it as well as bodies. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to my other trucks. I don't know if the ability to lower the ride height will make it comparable to the REVO for handling, but we'll see. The powerplant is rated at 2.5HP, but I have a PICCO 2.4HP in one of my TMAXXes, should be challenge head to head. It's going to be fun anyway and for only $400 if it does 3/4 of what I expect it to do I think it's a good deal !!
 
Don't have one, but the price is attractive. I think I'll stick with my Genesis LE and my Nemesis. Like you, I'm facing a weather situation. At 14 degrees, the break in on the Nemesis will wait. Good luck with your new truck.
 
I haven't seen many on the boards, if any! You might be a first.

I run in the winter, but I don't break in during the winter... well, not often. I did once. I used those dry chemical handwarmers ziptied around the head. They kept the head temp at about 70-80 degrees. I left them on through the first 10 tanks of fuel.
 
can any body help me out got a savage25 rtr yesterday and i can not get it to start its my first nitro and I'm lost i followed the starting instructions to the letter but all it does is hydrolock
 
I noticed something that isn't in the info on the Duratrax site, there's a small auxillery fuel tank (called header tank part #18 in exploded views) that holds fuel to keep it running during those embarrassing rollovers. It isn't shown in the pics there either. A pretty nice idea. Thanks for the handwarmer idea olds97 I'll use it for my ice racing too. Last year I played around with the idea of tire chains on one of my EMAXXes at the end of Winter and they worked great on the small patches I found without snow

This year I've found out the guys a few miles up the road race their trucks on the lake they have up there and they use screws in their tires. They need to beware I think the old HPI Chained Dirt Bones are going on the low profile positioned Warhead! But then again that may be a little too much power. Either way, EMAXX or Nitro, I'll be out there.

I bought a Warhead recently and I havent really had any luck with it. I've went through 3 spur gears already as they seem to like melt down for some reason. I noticed that I was able to turn the spur gear around so it wasn't sitting up against the metal gearing and causing heat to build up. I say if the spur gear was metal it would be alot better. I'm going to try and find someone to make one for me as you have to buy spur gears directly from Duratrax or Towerhobbies.

My warhead seems to not want to run and it doesn't seem like it has any power. When I go to give it alot of throttle it wants to cut off. I have not been happy with this truck at all and I'm getting pretty fed up with it. I'm going to take it to the local hobbie shop and see if there able to do anything for me.
 
I really like the design on te war head. Kinda savagish, but I really like the Tank inside of the TVPS. Also the suspension looks pretty bad ass, and has some nice shocks as well. And with Duratraxs 12 month Stress Test gurantee and Supertigres 3 year warrenty can't really seem to go wrong.

Rem it sounds like ya got some tuning issues. Or improper break in issues. How did ya break it in?
 
REMs98NeonRT did you break it in properly? How are you breaking the spur gears? For one thing they aren't designed to be turned around, that's why one side is recessed more than the other. Do you have the slipper set too loose or too tight? Is your gear mesh right? I've had my WarHead over a month and had no problems with the spur gear or motor yet. Only problem I've had came from a full throttle collision with a concrete loading dock caused by a little patch of ice.
 
Did it run fine until summer weather? I've found that when I break an engine in during winter months without taking precations, that they run like crap when the temps get above 60.

The last few I broke in when it was around 30 degrees, I used those chemical hand warmer packs. I took two of them and ziptied them to the head. Those kept the engine around 80 degrees when I'd shut it down in between tanks. I'd leave them on while running the tanks through as well and the engine temps would float around 220-240. I'd let it sit and cool between tanks for 15 minutes or so and as low as it got was 75-80. This was when it was 30 degrees and spitting snow...
 
Duratrax Warhead Thread - Tuning, Tips, Etc

Just bought a Duratrax Warhead from the fine folks at Lexington Hobby in S.C.. I thought I'd keep this thread going for those newbies like me who need to share experiences, tuning tips, etc...

First of all, let me just say that this baby is all I expected and then some. Out of the box and 7 tanks later, it's scREAmin' fast. I'm tempted by the Firehammer (pump gas), but I think I'll stick with the WarHead for a while and possibly buy another Warhead for backup.

My big problem right now is flooding. I'll run a tank of nitro, let 'er cool off a while, then fill it up and try to crank - it floods out every time. I've got the high speed needle out 4 1/12 turns and the low speed still at factory setting at 12.5 turns out. Is this way too rich or?

Also - I've gone through 3 (three!) pull starters on this thing. It's me, I know, not the car...maybe this IS the flooding problem...I'm pulling too hard or something.

I've got a bump box on the way - do you think this will help start this thing?

When it is running, I am keeping the temp at 230 degrees (bought a temp gauge, not doing spit test lol).

Other than the flooding, starting problems I'm having, I'm happy as I can be with it - this hobby is like crAck hehe

OS .30 Motor with OFNA Hardened Clutchbell Setup - Duratrax Warhead

Ok, after some drilling down of exactly what would work best, I have put together the following:
