i've been looking around several message boards trying to find some information on this truck. any opinions? should i forget about a duratrax and go with hpi or traxxas? any help would be appreciated. the more and more that i look.........the more and more that i get confused!!!

i would'nt reccomend duratrax....i had a mt pro and had alot of problems with it.

so if you don't recommend a duratrax, what do you suggest. My friend has a t-maxx and i don't wanna get the same thing. I thought about a savage, but i'll only run in tall grass a few times, while most of the time i'll be running on smooth surfaces. I'm more interested in speed and handling rather than rompin and jumpin through the backyard.

i have a rc10gt factory team...I'm very happy with it and would reccomend it to anyone.

I have a RC10GT RTR mildy converted, slowly, into a Factory Team. Would recommend it to anybody as well. Only a few things you need before it's almost unbreakable :) And it comes out of the box with some EXCELLENT abilities :)

I hear so much about those two vehicles, however, i would like something that's 4wd. I figured it would be a little easier to handle. I've always wanted a two speed transmission. Not sure if it makes a difference, but i've just always wanted one. I also want reverse if possible. I know i'm starting to get picky, but if i'm going to spend so much......i want something with everything that i want. The things that i want are steering me toward a mt, but if i can get away with a stadium, i would prefer it. That's why i was looking at the overdrive st. If you guys think i would be better off with a savage of t-maxx let me know. Or if there are any other options, i would like to hear those too. Thanks so far, you've guys have been great.

It all depends, do you want nitro or electric??? I have a RC10T3 and I have tried and tried to break it, it has went head on with many a xxxt and came out the winner, (by head on I mean just that, head on crashes) if you want nitro I would highly recommend the RC10GT, very tough and In my opinion alot stronger than the losi xxxnt.

If you want a monster truck I would stay away from the Tmaxx and go with a savage, In my opinion they are alot better truck,

Nitro MT's kick ass, and have a two speed tranny option.

i started off with a duratrash and would not recommend it. Mine broke all the time - and parts to replace it were of very low quality. I dont know a whole lot about the traxxas stuff, but my neighbor has had a traxxas nitro stampede for about 4 years and it still runs perfect, so it seems to be a great product. I have a rc10gt rtr and it has been just awesome. 4x4 is not that important in off road, u would be surprised at how well the 2 wheel drive trucks handle in the dirt. if youmust go with 4x4, are on a limited budget and are just gonna bash - the 4x4 monster trucks are great. if you have a lil more money - get a 1/8 scale buggy.

If you want a quality stadium truck there are really only two choices. The Losi XXX-NT and the Associated RC10 GT. Forget the Duratrax and the Rustler. The Rustler is fast but does not handle well at all. Duratrax is very low quality and has next to no aftermarket support, just about everything you need for it you will have to order from Tower. Check with your local hobby shop see what truck they stock parts for, nothing sucks more than having to wait for someone to order a part while everyone else is out running and your waiting for that $5 part.

If you want 4wd monster truck, again there are two really good choices, the T-Maxx and Savage. The T comes with reverse, the Savage does not. I have removed reverse from my T, it performs much better with a FOC. The Savage offers reverse as an option.

NC Nitro - good call on the choices, I think we would all pretty much agree on that. What about my idea for a buggy? he could get an ofna or GS kit RTR for about the same as the savage and Tmaxx, yes?:dumb:

You can get an OFNA Lx Pro kit for 299 at:
www.NitroHouse.com
But if you want 4wd and reverse, get a T-Maxx or Savage. The savage is upgradable to reverse like NC said, but i dont believe they make any Stadium trucks with reverse. The HPI nitro MT is a cheap alternative. It had 4wd and no reverse but if you put a .15 OS engine it could dominate in the ST class!

The HPI nitro mt is in no way going to dominate the stadium truck class, no matter which engine you have in it. Actually it is more of a half breed, half a stadium truck, half a monster truck. The Losi and AE dominate the stadium truck class, they will out handle the HPI truck.

A 4wd ST sounds cool. That duratrash overdrive thing is the only 4wd ST that I have seen. I don't think it has reverse.

Reverse gear in general seems to be something no one wants to add. It adds an extra servo, extra gears, requires extra space and generally decreases the overall performance.

If you want something 4wd thats fast and easy to manuver, get a 1/8 scale buggy. 1/8th scale buggies have bigger engines than some monster trucks. They don't have reverse but that have plenty of speed.

What kind of car do they race at your local track? if you don't want to bash, you might want to find out what they run.

I am mainly going to bash around the yard and a parking lot. Are buggies that much better??? Money really isn't a problem, but i would like to get as many features as i want. Your responses have been great, keep em coming.

Thanks again guys!!!

if you have some money to spend - then nothing, i mean nothing can even come close to a 1/8 buggy. I just got a GS Storm pro with an OS .21rz and it is actually faster than my onroad nitro touring car - an NTC3
