well I'm pretty new to rc (at least nitro) but this guy I'm gonna tell you a story about has had his t maxx for about 2 years

ok well his ezstart got screwed and he doesn't like pull starts so he got a roto start right?
well first the one way was too small so he went back to the lhs and they got him the right one...so we got back and the back plate did fit on so he put 1...yes only 1 screw in and put a paper clip in the other 2 screws
now i am new but i have a savage and i have to check the backplate every 3 days or so...because i heard from you guys that it can mess up your engine

soooo well it started good the first day....then we he finally came back (he leaves his car at my friends house) it started for a while and then BAM! no compression
hahahaha
by the way me and my friend warned him that it was a bad idea
anyway now he holds it on with body clips and MUAHAHAHAHAHA zero, non, nada, not even a little bit of compression hahah...he doesn't even get it....dumba**

sorry for the long post and the typos (i know there are some) i just thought i would share this story of a dumb s**t with you guys:flamer:

so he has paperclips holding the backplate on,
or the actual engine is secured to the chassis with paper clips wrapped throug hte holes and around?

Why would you make fun of him and let him break his stuff if you know better, you should have stepped in and told him he would ruin his engine. Some people are hard headed though and will not listen I guess.

I agree with you hum. Hell if I didnt know what I was doing and a friend let me mess my sh!t up, I would be pissed.

WTF is the point of this thread....how old are you junior?? Learn how to treat people before you degrade them to a bunch of people on the net.

CIAO

i said we told him that it would screw it up
ya know you dont have to look at the thread
or read it all

Hey dude,

I did come off kinda harsh. I've seen more then my fair share of stupid "jerry-rigged" chit on RC's and real cars over the years. If you warned him then it's not like your where being a vindictive ass...lol. I'm sure your buddy feels like a dumbass and hopefully he learned an important lessson in the hobby and life. Don't do things half ass.

Peace

well he hasnt come back to the house where the car is yet so he still thinks it will work.....i dunno it cranks once each time he pushes the roto-start button so i guess in theory it will still start

Hey I'm james' friend and friend of the guy whos really really hard headed, he really has no common since in any way related to mechanics. We have both warned and cautioned him about it to the point that i just gave up and said do what you want ask me for my advice if you want it. whenever he strips or looses a screw (way to often) he just replaces it with whatever he can find in the scrap bucket at our work area. crossthreaded everything, very little regard to plastic/machine threaded screws and where they go, ect. the paper clip thing didnt work out very well for him:shrug: <that is what his expression was "why didnt it work"
SO hes worked his way up a notch in the mechanical world and is now using body clips to hold the starter housing on (was awed by a roto-start and had to have one, but didnt get the right hole pattern for his backplate)

well i wish he would wise up and listen to people more often but the best lessons learned are the ones where it seems like you got raped by a handful of rusty corn-cob holders.

just to keep everyone updated and tell them what they should probaly not do...
he got the new stinger kit, couldnt get the screws in the manifold he said "we dont have the right allen wrench" DUDE WE HAVE EVERY FREAKIN ONE...anyway, so now its held on with one screw, body clip, and about 4 rubber bands
he has had this car for 3 years, I've been in this for about a month....i should be the one doing this...
WHY WONT HE LISTEN WHEN WE TELL HIM IT WONT WORK?!?!?!
