I am running a vented CB (hardend)and am gonig to get a spur gear from friend of mine but it takes a dual slipper. any one know were i can find one LHS bunch of idiots:\

What do you mean by a dual slipper? the Savage only has 1 slipper. If you are talking about 2 clutch shoes then you would need another flywheel as the Savage has 3.

my friend told me that the spur gear needs 2 clutches, one on each side I think. may need to do some more research on what kind of spur gear it is. will get back to the thread and fill in the info...:\

I don't know what to say to that lol, The savage only comes with 1 engine and on 1 side. If the spur is for a Savage then it will work fine.

The x4.1 has a dual slipper. With a rubber spider on the back 2 piece hub. Supposedly not a popular design but seems to work ok on my bro in law's x4.1

That slipper was ditched after a lot of people had issues iwth melting spurs I think. HPI ran it in one rig for a while, but went back to a single pad slipper. With the XL, they just went with a steel spur I think... They probably should have redesigned it a bit. IMO, the steel spur is just a band-aid for a stupid problem. Maybe a stiffer spring would have worked better.

On mine, I pretty much have it locked down where the spring is fully compressed. If I don't, mine slips running the engine/gearing I have.

the spur gear is a HOT RACING 47T, and on the companies website it does say that I will need to get the set up for a dual slipper. Does anyone run Hot racing or should I just go with the standard aluminum (purple) from HPI.

I am not sure if anyone make's a steel dual gear because it wasn't around for very long. There is a conversion from that dual to a single I was looking at one day. I'm not sure where you can find the conversion but...
