I've heard of these dual pick-up fuel tanks that help when you run into some serious lid time. Anyone ever used one and a link would be great too. Thanks.

Don't they make fueltanks with a pickup that flops around inside the tank. I know that they make it for airplanes, but do they make it for cars/trucks also?

The pick up that you describe, Diver, is known as a clunker. There are a few for cars, but they are typically just aircraft tanks that have been adapted for use in cars. I'll see if I can dig up a couple of links on clunker tanks.

As for the dual pick up tank, the one above is the first one I have seen.

All of the tanks I've seen with a clunk on the pickup are for airplanes... Because they are for airplanes, there is no convenient way to fill them up, other than through the fuel line with a special filler.

Another option you can do is to run a second tank called a header tank. They are 2oz (~60cc), and you just run it inline with your regular fuel line. These also have a clunk in them, so your vehicle can run for quite a while upside-down. They are made by Hayes, and Thunder Tiger. The TT one comes with a nice bracket for mounting. They are also available with an aluminum bracket. They are designed for helocopters. Alot of the Savage guys are running them with good results.

Yeah, that's where I saw it. I did a search here on RCNT and came up with a dual tank mod that incorporated a 2oz clunktank to help with the leaning prob of the savage.

Kind of lost me there, big guy. How is a fuel filter (high capacity or otherwise) going to allow you to run longer?

It holds fuel for the engine to run on while the ride is on its lid. I see a lot of buggies with two of those filters for maximum capacity.

So the filter is larger than pictured and acts as a reservoir? That I can see. Thanks.

More fuel in the lines... Didn't you ever watch "Days of Thunder" "I'm going to give you an extra big fuel line and hold an extra gallon of gas."

Cone to cone on the filter is over an 1" long and about 1/2" in diameter along the whole length. To put it bluntly, the fuel filter is huge.

I did watch "Days of Thunder" and the pit chief was BS-ing the driver to give him some confidence. But I will buy the larger filter size acting as a reservoir.

Actually, when Harry Hogge said "I'm going to give you an extra big fuel line and hold an extra gallon of gas.", he was still in his barn building the car. The driver wasn't anywhere around. :jester:

Busted.

If memory serves correctly I thought that the Power racing (Schumacher in the UK) swift comes with a dual pickup tank. Anyone know if this is correct and if it will fir a GS storm or other buggies?

Oh well, the memory isn't what it used to be.

I remember that scene. That was when he was still building the car and talking to it at the same time. Larger diameter fuel line to hold more fuel, larger oil pan to cut the air underneath ... kinda funny because I tend to do that to when wrenching on any car ... r/c or 1:1.
