I am looking for someone I can consult with to build a drivetrain prototype. In general l’m looking to design a wheel driven by a motor mounted on a servo so that the wheel is parallel to the motor shaft and the servo is inline with the wheel to facilitate turning. The entire length servo + motor + wheel around 3”.

How about a hobby gearmotor like this, to which you'd have to add a servo / steering mechanism? How much of the design/prototyping are you going to be able to do yourself? Like, is this a school assignment, a personal project you can spend weeks on, etc?

Are you planning on using just 1 such drive unit in a "tricycle" arrangement, with an un-driven un-steered axle, or are you going to try and have multiple steerable drive units like a mars rover? The latter would involve substantially more complicated control software to keep are the wheels pointing / turning in the same directio

Thank you for your quick reply. The tricycle front wheel is a close comparison. The link you sent would not work because everything needs to be inline like the front fork of a tricycle.

This is an MVP for a personal project outside of work. I have CAD software and 3D printers, but not the time and am looking for someone to take the design and build a prototype at this first stage.

LMK your interest or recommendations.
