I read something somewhere a while back and its slipped my mind. But i do believe it covered beefing up the stock transmission mod by adding an extra pin.
Anyone know what I'm talking about. Id like to do it to mine as I plan on getting a different motor in the future.

(I'm not talking about the spider mod)

I know what you are talking about but it is hard to explain. HPI makes a heavy duty 2nd gear also that is stronger then the 2 pin setup

Pictures no longer are on that site. Anyone have some info on where I can find pics to see this mod? Might want to do it to mine the next time the trans is out...

Thanks...

I've done it as well. You will notice less of a slam when it shifts into second.

olds, do you remember how much time this mod took for you to complete?

Yup, that's the right shaft pin, but save your money and put this in instead:

The Savy's 2nd gear mechanism is weak (IMO) and this fixes the problem. They've re-designed the power transfer mechanism for the better - On mine (and many other 4.6 SS kits), one of the two little screws that hold the "D" plate onto the 2nd speed gear broke and MAJORLY ground up the whole tranny case/gears. HPI replaced it under warranty, but then I saw that they'd come out with the HD version - MUCH better design, even if it's a wee bit more than that package of pins...They've also added the extra pin in the pawl that keeps it from over-extending and grinding/wearing the other parts.
