Dont Save your Pennies

That's messed up. The article didn't say if he had them rolled, or not. I can see the charge if they are not, but if the are I don't see how they could refuse them. If someone had alot of time, and $10K, it would probably be worth the money, seeming how the guy has been saving them for 30 years, there are almost undoubtedly a few worth more to a collector.

And if there wasn't, you have $10k worth of pennies for $10k. If you can get rid of them.

The law states a merchant must accept any form of legal US currency as payment for product.

He needs to use them for shopping. It took him many years to collect them so whats the issue of taking just as many to spend them? His brother should bet him double or nothing that he can't spend them all.

He should roll up to the local walmart in a dump truck and buy a ton of stuff LOL

LOL. That sure sounds like a bite in the ass. Thump the brother over the skull until he gives in and use the pennies for gas or something small over time.

oh that sucks big time!!!i would not want to have any thing to do with rolling that many pennies

That just sucks, he should go buy a car or something big like that. Could you see the sales persons face when he pays in pennies..........LOL

Unless you try to by a car with a credit card. A friend of mine tryed to by an $8K grand am for his daughter with a credit card, and they wouldn't take it.

:2cents: I just had to put these in there. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's the car business for ya.. if it ain't good for them it won't be good for you. Dealerships get charged a fairly significant fee for taking a deposit or payment on a credit card if it is over a set amount... they can do it but if they say they can't there's really nothin you can do about it. I hate jack around car dealerships. Sorry bout the off topic...

could you imange going to the coin star machine and dumping them in it..lol

LOL! I wonder how long it would take for a coinstar machine to fill up. Also, you would still be looking at a fee (probably bigger than the fees he has already incountered) of 8.9 cents on the $. It sure would be fun though. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
