After getting a bit stupid on the pavement, I jumped my truck & tore off the antenna.

After getting a new one, and picking up a new antenna tube, I lost the old one. :\

Can anyone tell me how long the wire is from where it comes out of the receiver to the end ?

I know the tube is 250mm, but I have the RTR version & it sounds like antenna wire length is critical.

Thanks in Advance.

I don't have the original HPI Rx and Tx on mine, so I can't give you an accurate measurement but I was able to find the following info for you:

While it's best to match the length used on the receiver originally, sometimes that just isn't possible. So if you don't know what the original length was, you'll want to use around 27 inches of wire for 27 MHz. If you're receiver operates in the 75 MHz range, you'll want to use around 20 inches.

Thanks Rolex.
I e-mailed HPI, and the response I got back was "with the original antenna tube (which I looked up to be 250mm according to the HPI part number), it should be about an inch longer." That would be ~ 275mm or 27cm......27 inches looked a bit long :D

I'm going to give that a shot, then I'll report back in case anyone else runs into this issue & does a search..........as soon as the weather breaks a bit

Interesting point. I never even tried to visualize how long 27 inches would be, or I would have known it wasn't right. That was a direct copy and paste.
So, for future reference, 27mm and 20mm?
If so, thanks for the correction.

The antenna tube is 250mm or 25 cm

and the wire length should be about an inch longer, or 275 mm or 27.5 cm

Actually the wire would be a bit longer because you have an inch or two before the antenna.

Darn those metrics...............

Anyways, I haven't tried it out yet, as the weather was crappy here today.

Results for antenna wire

Well,

Took the savy out bashing today with the new antenna.

I first cut the tube to the stock length (250mm), Put the wire I soldiered on & let it go past the tube about an inch & cut it. I also had about 1/2 inch of slack between the receiver and where it goe up through the antenna tube.

I can drive it as far as I want, and no glitches, or issues. Hope this helps someone in the future.

I did however mod the tube, so it snakes around under the body. to avoid exposure.
