RC Driving Style
First of all would like to say Hi! to everyone :)

Got my Savage 25 RTR last week and have been having much fun. However my brakes have always been pretty non-existent and so I decided to upgrade to the dual disk setup. I installed last night and now that the brakes are actually working I have noticed a sound that I am not sure is ok or not. When applying the brake the truck makes a rattly sound before stopping. Is this one of my diffs on the way out??

My savage makes the same noise with the stock brake setup, and my rear diff has a diff locker and my front diff has a fresh rebuild, so I don't think its one of your diffs. As far as it being ok I have always driven mine like that and not had a problem
 
when I first heard that sound I thought it was some sort of ABS from my controller but I didn't think the XS3 had that so I just kept using it, not sure what makes the noise, just know that it makes it
btw i have the 4.6 kit
 
Thanks guys, you have put my mind at rest. I saw my friend at the weekend and his does the same. Guess I was just a bit paranoid!

Well spotted! I did notice this on Saturday and changed them back, I wondered if the truck was handling a bit different!!
 
I had the same problem and it wasn't the diffs but the gears that connect to the diff from the tranny

Yeah, I opened up the front diff at the weekend to find that I am missing approx 1/5 of the teeth from my front bevel gear :(

New one on order now.
 
yup..put 30k oil in there too thats what I did and its holding up pretty well..and you should replace both the 43t and the 13t bevel gears to be on the safe side
 
Yea, that sound is normal when they are new and clean. run them a while and it will lessen, clean your truck a few times and it will mostly go away.

Remember, one side of the stainless disks is rubbing against break lining material, the other side is rubbing against stainless steel.

Brakes really work good, don't they.
