I think if I could come up with something to dissolve super glue I could get rich! Has anyone come up with a reasonable and effective way of getting tires off rims??? I've tried about 3 or 4 home-made concoctions with no success! I have like 10 sets of buggy rims and tires... and we are down to just a few sets with any good tread! hate to just throw all those rims away.. :) Or.. Has anyone found 2 pc. or bead-locks for buggies??? Peace!

I dont know what nailpolish remover would do to your rims/tires, but, it takes super glue off of my fingers and my work bench.

Buggy tires usually end up so sauced with glue that I wouldnt even try removing them from the rim .......

Super glue?? I know that if you used CA glue you can use CA glue debonder and get the tires right off.

Never needed to. My rims look like crap when I'm done running my On-road car so I'd rather get new ones. I have new rims sitting in my garage anyways.

I have used it to remove tires in the past and its great.
I have also heard its like Kryptonite for a particular Agent in Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

For some reason it seems like there is a but that should follow this sentence. If it works why do others mention baking their tires or boiling them? Would this be the route to go?

No buts after the sentence, just an ass after my post. :jk: Couldnt help myself on that one. =devil

There are many ways to remove tires from wheels. You listed one way, and debonder is another.

If you have an oven then you don't have to pay for debonder, you just have to listen to your GF/Wife bitch and moan about how stupid you are to make the house smell like burning rubber. So paying for debonder is usually the better way out.

oven and boiling straight doesn't work period as I have tried it more than once. This stuff works wonders although it might take a few applications before you get it all the way off without ripping the tire

looking at the knuckles... but I see most at the track using something more like the cell blocks..... track is indoor clay.. any thoughts?

Knuckles would be good but it's better to go with the flow if the cell blocks are pulling ahead of the knuckles

ACETONE is the solvent for CA. It is the active ingredient in nail polish remover. It can be found in Home Depot, Lowes and other home improvement stores. it is thinner than water, evaporates very quickly, doesn't leave a residue, is HIGHLY flamable, and gets you really high if you use it indoors. It also causes brain damage if you huff it (so don't) and has other bad side effects, like if you live in california, it causes birth defects, so don't use it in california. I'm not sure if it melts the kind of plastic that rims are made out of, but you could try a dab on the inside of one to see.

Other than that, acetone is the schiznit for debonding and/or disolving CA.

Yep Acetone is the go.... I'm surprised no one mentioned it prior to this. I've tried the oven method, and the boiling water - and if you have used some quality CA - I can tell you it will still be (at least) quite difficult - for me the boiling/oven did nothing to loosen up that glue.

I've heard acetone works wonders - I plan on trying it myself sometime soon - hope the stuff is cheap. Most rims are acetone-resistant - I'm pretty sure all Kyosho wheels are, and i'd take a wild bet that most other solid colored rims would be too.

I'd only be woried if the wheels are like painted, chrome-paint coated or something like that.
