Hi guy's, Our fiddlesticking cable co. just did it's annual price increase now our BASIC cable bill is $50 bucks!! So I'm thinking about going to a dish. For those who have one what do you think of them? Do you have any problems as far as billing or whatnot? Buy the way what are you paying for BASIC cable where you are? Thanks for your time!!

I know the feeling, my cable co. is also charging me a arm and a leg, not to mention they raised my cable modem from 30.00 to 50.00 per month. I'd also like to know how everyone feels about Satellite.

Hey guys, i don't know where you live at but my total cable bill is
$88.00 a month.That is digital basic,total chioce sports & internet.
Though I live in Louisiana where everything is high ,I don't complain. When i had direct TV, the bill kept going up and i still had to have cable due to them saying that I could use and attenna to get llocal channels.
Thats BullShit!!!!! I will not put up a big ass attenna in my yard because satellite people are dicks. The bill was up tp $65.00 when I cancelled it for all the sports extras just so I could get Speedvision. So that is my twoo cents, and will give any advice that i can.

Oh I forgot , the cable modem was $10.00 amonth and my father-in-law gave me one for Xmas. That knocked my bill down to ** bucks a month.

You know you can BUY a cable modem these days for under $100. A buddy of mine told me about this and since I bought my own the modem has more than paid for itself, several times. Even if your modem only lasts 2 months you are still coming out even as far as the price goes. Plus there's generally a warranty with the modem so really you have less to lose buying you own modem. I mean I was only paying $15 a month to rent the cable modem from my service provider however when you factor in the fact I had been renting their modem for over 3 years, that's the price of your average RTR RC.

I have dtv. They gave me all the equiptment for free. CHeck their promo's they gave out three recieers and one of them a tivo deal for free with a one year contract.

My bill is like $35. I am different than most. I didn't cave to their pitches. I don't add extra channels I don't need them.

They a have 4 times as many channels as digital here in town. I don't need 4 hbo's and 3 cinemax's

I have two recivers for that $35 a month. One in the living room, and one in the bed room for to watch tv before we crash.

When I first got DTV, the bills were slightly higher, only becuse we ordered a pay per show every other night.

Pay per veiw movies are new, they come out about a week after they come out on dvd, or at the rental stores. I no longer pay late fees, and watch any movie I want to. PPV is usually $3.00 for a regular movie.

I can also order PPV online, and pay/view my bill online.

Installation is free. I wouldn't let a cable installer near my house tho.

I love it

I have Comcast Digital and have all the HBOs and Showtimes with all the other basic channels plus I have the internet with them to. I pay aroung 80 to 90 bones depending if I get a movie or two.

yeah I got all the channels but cinnemax, I got 3 digital boxes and one is the Tivo type DVR. I got high speed internet also so total package is pricey but Iwouldn't have it any other way.

I have Direct TV and I like it better than cable. I pay $67 a month for over 150 channels w/ 7 HBO's. The only complaint I haveis in severe bad weather I lose signal for a while.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm just getting sick of the price increase EVERY fiddlesticking January for the last five years!! They think they got you by the balls! I'm not the only one in town that they have pissed off, last year the town got together but they told us, take it or leave it. fiddlesticks them I'm going to get a dish, hell maybe right now. Thanks again.

NO cash out for install either heh, enjoy.

HB how do you like dtv's net access? hows the ping times?

I'm running 802.11b internet atm its 11 megabit, but pings bite

I had Comcast Digital paying $80 a month. The only channel I miss is the local weather channel.

yea i miss my local weather/news channel too. I am close enought to pick up New Haven weather and Bridgeport so I figure right in between the two not to bad weather on the coast is about the same.

I've had DTV for about 4 years now, and love it... I still pay the thieves at Cablevision $50 a month for my Broadband connection.
I recently added Tivo to my satellite service for a total cost of $5 a month extra... can't beat it...

I have a dish on the side of my home and fiber optics to the curb. Personally I think that they both are short on giving anything very worthwhile. My subscription to Netflicks delivers better entertainment.

Before you invest in Direct Tv you may want to give Dish Network a try. The basic package starts at around $25. it offers over 38 PPV channels. Tons of movie and local regional sports stations too.

They also have Digital recording integrated on many receivers.

I've had cable DTV and Dish blows them both away (IMO).
