Alright guy's i have a 2002 rm125 2-stroke, the bike is a beast, i'm racing this season, it'll be my second year, well heres the question. My dad's opening up the engine to check it out since we haven't done it since we have had the bike, i was thinking about getting a 144 bore kit on it, anyone have any suggestions on where to get the bore kit? i know that if i just rebuild the engine i was going to go with the wiesco top end rebuild kit, which is only $150,(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...1ff8b098c&rvr_id=&ua=WVF?&itemid=390046332123) anyone have any suggestions on a bore kit for this bike?

Thanks in advance guys.

If you're racing, you may want to check with the sanctioning body that controls your race series, that bore kit may not be legal. Then again, it's a been a long time since I've been involved in MX. Hell, they race four strokes now, can you believe that? :hehe:

If you really want to get serious about racing, don't look to your engine....get your suspension revalved ;-) It is the SINGLE best thing you can do to a bike to make yourself faster. Most of these bikes make more power than the average amateur can use anyway, the problem is it doesn't all get to the ground.

I revalved my old race bike (95 KX125, revalved it in 96 after racing it for a year) and it gave me 300% more confidence than I already had on the bike. I was able to jump farther, go into corners faster, not fear the choppy stuff on the track...just WELL worth the investment.

Going back to the big bore kit....you can probably run it without much issue at the amateur level, but if you start winning...people will start asking questions and eventually you will get protested. If your a mid pack and back guy....no one will care either way.

You also linked the wrong piston kit. You have a 2002, not a 1987. Your kit is here:

and it's only $83 ;-)

Sorry about that, lol. My suspension has already been revalved. I am pretty sure now that instead of doing the big bore kit, I'm going to keep the engine stock(besides the rebuild kit) and just rebuild it with Wiseco's rebuild kit.

i wouldn't do the big bore either. just do the top end and make sure that you have a good pipe. its nice to see someone still riding a 2 stroke. you dont see alot of them around anymore.

Yeah, thats what I'm going to do, It has an FMF fatty pipe with a shorty silencer. Yeah i love two strokes, especially the power bands haha....

4-strokes are SOOOOO easy to ride though ;-) My last bike was a 2003 Cannondale X440 (YES they made dirt bikes). It was a friggin tractor off the gate....I pulled SOO many holeshots on that damn thing it was stupid. lol Once you're off the gate you could pretty much toss it in 3rd and just go. Lug it, Scream it....whatever ya like. It just kept pulling to the moon.

I miss that bike...

Nice Scott, is that the one in your display pic?

Yup. Same bike as my avatar. I do miss the smell of premix and clutches being burned up though! Loved my 2 strokes, but as I got fatter and lazier...the 4 strokes were like couches with wheels ;-)
