hey all, i havent been here for a while but i need help! i want to get a digital camera for under $300 or something that sums to $300 with rebates. i am the average picture taker but i also want alot of zooming capability thus alot of megapixels. i will also use this to take pics of my airbrush work.
i was stuck on the Kodak EasyShare Z740 5 MegaPixel for a while but i just got back from Best Buy and i liked the deal that they have running on the Sony Cybershot 7.2 MegaPixel (DSC-W7) which one of these two would be better? is there anything else that would blow these two away and stay $300 or under.

all i can really say is dont even look at the digital zoom its useless... optical zoom is all you should use

that aside ..i would think if you stay with major names & get the most megepixals you can. you will be ok
also if you can pick up & hold as many of them as you can ..I'm sure its like rc remotes what feel good to one doesn't to another

good luck

OK I'm gonna go with the sony.i have the CZ lens on my video camera and the footage is stunning. i was gonna go dead with the kodak till i went to the store today and saw it compared to the sony. thanks for the input i was really going crazy thinking about it. and it is like a rc remote because i touched the sony one and it said "BUY ME!"

I have the DSC-828 and I'm not very happy w/ it.....Digital Photography is more setup than my analog stuff was....I feel like I'm learning a new language.....it's a good camera just too confusing...seems like all my old analog apperature settings are poopoo for digital.....I do like th eCZ lens though.....I'm thinking of selling the camera and getting the Canon D-1 or some other canon SLR type.......pics of "airbrush art" huh??? you don't fool me you lil graph-it-E punk.......lol :jk:

Well well? take some pics already!

Congrats on the new cam. Did it come with a cheat sheet/booklet? If it did .... keep it in the camera case. You might need to know something and it's easier than flipping thorugh the manual looking for information.

Heres one of my quaker parrot.. how do i delete my old images? it says my images total and i know I'm gonna post alot of pics now, so how do i do it?

i have the 128 stick+32mb internal memory on the cam i can take about 100 pics... i was asking about how to delete old images that i posted on the forum not my cam. i figured that out already. that book has already saved me because i didnt know how to take small pics, which i soon found all i needed to do was hit 2 buttons!

IMO, always use the maximum setting for all your pics. You can always re size them in your computer but you can't get back what was never there to start with.

If you want to zoom in on a particular spot of a pic using your computer you will be disappointed if you used a lower setting.
