Digi cam suggestions

I'm looking to buy a digi cam soon, and was wondering what every/anyone thought about the popular ones on the market? I'd like to stay around $300. Less if possible, and a little more if it really makes a differance in durability, quallity, user friendlyness, and so on. Also interested in a digital video cam. Are they any good for still photos? Or, should I just get a digi cam, and worry about the video later?

I have the Canon S500. I Love it. Also Look into the Canon A95 Too.

OK I have a friend that said I can borrow his Cannon for a little while. Don't know what model, but it too the pics of my Maxx that I posted.

I bought a Sony about 2 years ago, it does just about everything including movies my candle light. One thing for sure though, get yourself a tripod. You never know when a friend is going to ask you to film him wedding.
