diffrent engines - diffrent temps? please help!

well, this is starting to bother me now, here it is. i go racing evrey now and then, with my hyper 7 pro with a basic picco 21. i tune it up so it has a nice tune,run around abit but i experience problems in cutting out, over heating ect. so i richen it out abit and then nothing it ok with the loss in slight performance it runs at a nice 270 degrees. the max rpm for this mill is 29000 and hp is 2.1... i see the people with the rb enignes you know the top class expencive ones. can go 40000rpm. but these enignes can scream down the straight and by the looks of it dont over heat that much, enough to keep compresion. and by what i see they can lean it so much just enough to run... now.. is it me or the engine. is it simply, the richer engine on the picco 21 is nesasary because it can only go up to 29000rpm any leaner and it will go above and overheat as a result. and on say the rb engines they can go leaner because they can cope with the more rpm? is this the case?

Sounds like you've got an airleak somewhere on that engine. It could also mean that you've got a worn-out engine too.

+1 on the airleak. It is leaning out your tune as the engine warms up. That is why the temps go up. Seal the carb up and check the tank and fuel lines out as well.

hi there thanks for help, but its most certainly not an airleak. i belive it is something to do with the engine but i dont know what.

have you sealed your mill up before? if you havent then the chance of an airleak is good. especially with those symptoms

Forgive me, but I have a question: How do you know it isn't an airleak? Everything you described points right to an airleak.

Any engine, old or new can have an airleak. That is why we suggested it!

It is never too late. High-temp RTV is what you need. Remove the carb from the mill and run a small bead around the port then put 'er back together and let it dry. May need to seal the rear backing plate as well...

WAIT, dont just throw some rtv on there, learn as much as you can. Start here,,,, Watch these videos and they will give you a good idea on how to do it.
