I have a First Gen T-Maxx 2.5, with a 3.3 in it. The front diff sheered off the screws, in the gear case. I wonder what a good upgrade is, without much money..? I do plan to bulletproof them, it's just not in the budget, right now... After 13-14 yrs, on a shelf, I got it started, and putted around, with a RICH mixture, a few times last year. Only had RWD, then I shifted in Rev, and it stuck there... I rebuilt the trans, should be ok. Can't wait to get it back in one piece again.. A buddy gave me this other one, but I'm not sure if gears will fit in it, and it will fit in the housing... It looks bigger.. Wider.

As long as the bearings lay in the bearing journals properly, and the gear is the same, and meshes properly (ring gear in same position laterally), it should work. If you need to, you can shim the pinion to get the mesh just right. You want to feel just the slightest bit of play in the gears.

@Chubaka might have some ideas for an actual replacement.

I haven't messed with my tmaxx in ages. I will say the 3.3 diffs are stronger, and if you can find emaxx brushless edition diffs, those can handle power.
