Are the revo diffs the same as the 3.3 maxx diffs? And is so, would it be ok to run a 3.3 diff in the rear and a 2.5 diff in the front for now? Or are they different ratios or something? Thanks..

they are the same ratios 2.5 and the 3.3 the 3.3 is just a step up from the 2.5 with 4 screws holding it together and a sealed diff.as for the revo diffs they r designed a lil different but guys do use them in maxxs, as fr as i know the ratios are the same in the revo ones

I recently bought a new set of differential gears and the new spider gears with the newer 4 bolt differential housing for the 10 year old TMaxx.

I found out real quick that the spider gear set I bought are different even though all the other parts fit properly. The internal gearing is different on the spider gears.

I had to reuse my old set of spider gears because there was binding and it would not spin properly. I think traxxas changed something and thought I bought all the right parts. I replaced everything on my diff rebuild...Bearings/ Housing/ Drive gears but my spider gears because the new set I bought did not mesh properly. I felt to much grinding. I think they have a parts number conflict and changed something or I just bought the wrong spider gear kit.

the gears are designed different between the 3.3 and 2.5 with the 3.3 being a sealed diff the gears must be disigned to accomodate this as mentioned above, but the gearing is the same,

Nitro revo and 3.3 maxx diffs are exactly the same internally. You could use an older style diff up front with no problems.
