well i got my savy all torn apart so i can install the 4 spyder gears and some 50k diff oil.. i was looking over the parts today and i noticed that the diff cups have a hole in them.. how is the oil supposeds to stay in it? i looked for a "plug" screw and couldnt find one.. can i just plug the hole with rtv? will it hold? why is it there?? I'm confused.. are the savage diffs not supposed to be oil filled? they come with paper seals for the ring gear but have a hole in them. ?.?.? thanks for your help in advance guys!!

There is a set screw that you use to keep the oil in. The size is M4 x 4mm. Let me know if you need some, I have a couple spares.

well sweet i havent took the diff out to see if there is a screw in it.. I'm only going by what was in the 4 spyder mod pack.. if there supposed to be in the diff cup in the truck they should still be there.. illl find out today and let you know..

The stock diff should have that screw in it, otherwise it will be nearly impossible to install the pin that holds the large bevel gear in place.

So that's what that hole is for!!! Man, that is a pain to put that pin in... I just thought it was for oil or something. It never made sense to me.

5 years in and still learning!
