Diff Inspection reveals surprise...

During my routine 1 gallon of fuel inspection I decided to teardown my diffs with Robinson gears for inspection. I had the diffs built by a local hobby shop. To my suprise the front diff only had 2 screws loose on the diff cup . The rear WOW... FOUR loose diff cup screws and scouring on the aluminum housing. Shavings every where. Lucky for me I inspected when I did. The hobby shop did not use loctite on the diff screws. I will. Lesson learned: 1) Inspect for damage before it occurs
2) Loctite diff screws
3) Don't depend on someone elses work being done right
4) The extra work in inspections will pay $ in saving your ride!

Check out my Gallery for more diff pics...

That's a nice diff housing. What brand is it?

I had that happen on one of my maximizer cups. I think I got grease in the threads as I was putting it back together. I locktight the crap out of everything. Sometimes it causes stripped and busted bolts and I still have some come loose. I've noticed that polished chrome screws will not stay in regardless what you put on them. Like the 2.5 motor mount screws. Those things are always walking out on me. So does stainless screws. Must be something to do with the metal.
