Well, the dreaded (For me at least) fuel time has come along.
I was making a list on tower and thought I made a mistake when I seen my fuel that I usually pay $28.09 With a free glow plug is now $46.22 with no glow plug.

Did fuel prices skyrocket?
I just talked to the LHS a couple weeks ago and I think they said their fuel was about $35 and I thought that was expensive..

Havnt been to the LHS lately but i usually play 28.79. also before when the prices were up i still only paid that

Well,I was talking with the guys at the LHS and I asked him how much his fuel was and I think he said $29.
I told him about the ridiculous price online and he said that not to long ago he was paying over $30 a gallon just to get his fuel in the door!

I asked why and he said that there are nitro methane shortages because the fuel factories in China were forced to shut down production around and during the Olympics, something about air quality..
Anyways here is the question about NITRO shortage.
Q. Is there currently a nitromethane shortage?

A. Yes. As you know, Angus Chemical withdrew their nitromethane product from the racing market over a year ago, so they’re off the table. As for manufacturers in China, they’re experiencing production problems for several reasons. There is a severe shortage of feedstocks required to make the nitromethane, with no relief expected until later in the fall. The Chinese government is also placing restrictions on nitro manufacturers and others such that no production can occur near and during the timeframe of the Summer Olympics. In addition, the government is placing restrictions on shipments into and out of their ports during two significant time periods this summer. Some production has been impacted by the recent earthquake.

Well, for me it depends on what fuel brand I buy and where I go.

An LHS I'd like to help out charges near $40 for 20% and $53 for 30%. I buy a gallon of 20 and 30, then mix 50/50 to get 25%. With tax, I'm nearly over $100 just for 2 gallons! That's odonnels, nitrotane, traxxas fuel or blue thunder.

At my other LHS, they sell all their fuel at similar prices. All except for byrons. I just spent $26 on 20% and $32 on 30% today! I asked why it was so much cheaper and they said it's because it's mfr'd in the states... but I really don't know for sure. Sounds kind of iffy.

All I know is I now have 2.5 gallons for bashing which should get me through the remainder of the fall and probably winter.

The real kick in the junk today was when I bought 2 McCoy MC-8 glow plugs because I wanted to try a cooler plug... $9 a piece!

Man, that price is HIGH! $9 a piece :whhooo:

I ended up getting a gallon of Byrons 20% for around $29 it's not too bad, but it still adds up.
I like supporting hobby shops, but I still usually end up having to make an order anyways even though I do enjoy standing around yappin with the owners.

Good thing I buy 3 gallons at a time;) It usally lasts me all year:)

3 gallons last you all year? you need to get out more. LOL

I see 20% Trinity is up to 32 a bottle now

No time!! Between dirt bikes, airplanes, shooting( I came third in the expert class yesterday:third_place:) and horses theres not much tome for R/Cing!!!
I have my Mini Mauler I play with in my room when I'm spost to be sleeping ;):hehe::D

the only reason they shut down the plants also there wasent much shortage it was to clean up the air in china thats why the prices went up during that time i coudent buy 30% for 4mounths

this isnt really about prices but I'm new to the nitro rc cars and just bought one. i was wondering how much gas does a 1/10 scale nitro buggy use, and how fast? because i go through about a tank in ten minutes i was just wondering if that was normal or if i need to change some of my settings?

thats about normal it depends on how you drive my ofna lx1 car if i let it idle thats it it last 30min bought if i hammer the throttle its about 9-13min
