Well, I picked up a Desert Rat body by Pro-line for my Revo this weekend. I gave it a rough trim and washed it with Dawn liquid soap. I'll do a final trip later w/ my dremel, I figure this way I can make sure I have the liquid mask covering the body completely, and not skimping on edges. I layed out a thin, even layer of liquid mask, and when I was done I read the bottle for directions on cleanin the brush.. "brush or spray on one thick layer.. use additional layers if needed". Well, I turned around and layed out a heavy layer right after and now i'm gonna let it sit for a few hours before continuing. I'll lay down another couple layers doing this method. I'm in no rush, I want to make this body look GOOD!

I'm still not sure about what colors I want to do yet. I realize that cutting out designs may be a pain in the butt for a novice like myself.. so I'm thinkin somethin easy. The colors I've got here are (pactra acryl) Basic White, Basic Black, Basic Dark Blue, Candy Red, Pearl Gold, and Trans Smoke. Smoke I figure for windows. Blue/Gold/White I bought for a later project (Girlfriends GT2 - "Rams" body.) The others I just thought would be good to have and possible uses on this body.

I'm lookin at other bodies and tryin to get some ideas. However at this point I've come up with a fairly boring, but very simple idea... 2-tone, black and blue. Using the body-lines as guides for the color seperation. Bottom black/top blue. Then I was thinkin maybe Dark blue on the bottom - Candy red on top, and black highlights on some areas. Then I thought the Red/Blue combo may not look so well..

I'm gonna keep thinkin about different colors and designs.. Feel free to drop in your own suggestions!

Flipping threw Rc mags usually helps spark up some ideas when I'm having brain farts of designs. Might wanna check some out. Have fun and keep us posted!
 
Finally came up with a design. Colors I'm goin with are Candy Red, Basic Dark Blue, and Basic Dark Black. I shot 2 passes of black to shadow an area on the body (tryin to blend an edge that I cut a little sharp). About 15 minutes later I decided to shoot a little red. I sprayed a thin-as even as possible-coat down and set down the body. I'm done for tonight.

Anyways the reason I'm posting is hopefully to get a quick answer. With Candy Red, is it going to be somewhat transparent where I'll need to lay down a backing? My next color to spray after a few coats of this is the dark blue.

Its done!

Ok, I really took my time on it. Even layin down the mask. I used Hobbico Liquid Mask, Pactra Acryl Basic Black, Basic Dark Blue and Candy Red. Last time I sprayed Candy Red was in a can and it came out real nice and RED. Much different than this time. Dont know what happened, but this time it looks like a purple-to-pink color change! Its a little washed out, but there IS a White Proline 1/8th scale wing mounted on the back! I've got a black Ofna High Downforce wing in the mail along with some 17mm Ofna hubs/black HPI dish wheels and Badlands tires!

Any new pics with the new tires and wing????....I am thinkng about getting this body for mine.....
 
No recent pics, sorry. Sadly, its collecting dust too. No time to play with my RCs! I got rid of my Losi's locally since I couldn't sell them quick and easy here (Dont have verified Paypal to receive $). Now I only have my Jato, Revo, and Savage. Tho I REALLY want to grab a Vendetta still!

Back on topic :) The Rat does look cool w/ the Black Ofna downforce wing, and black dish wheels/badlands. Everytime I see the Revo I wanna fire it up and run it, but the Trinity Pipe that I added is SO loud I feel bad if I'm runnin it out front or back.. My neighbors have a baby...

Thanks for the compliment Bent, I agree with you on Proline finally makin this Desert Rat body!
