Hey guys, I was contemplating buying a TC4 since I came to the realization that I don't have room to run a nitro monster and the neighbors will complain of noise, so I have a question- what's a good servo for 50 bucks or less. It doesn't have to be a super man servo (80-120 bucks, wow), I just want something that will let me compete in a race and not loose steering.

On a TC4 you dont have any huge need for torque. You should look into the speed of the servo as the primary resource. If you stick with the name brands any unit will due. Find the fastest unit that is in your price range and you will be fine. I'm using a 925mg on one and a 525mg on another as well as a AE RTR servo on the 3rd (Not sure of the number.) I use whatever I have laying around for the steering as long as its on the faster side of the scale.

I like the Metal Gear servos and believe they are a better choice.

My point being you dont need to pay for a high torque servo. Choose a servo the faster the better there is no need for over kill. You can find something that will do just fine for 30-50.00

That's what I've been looking for, thanks. I guess what I'm really asking is what's the minium torque amount needed. I think the Novack XRS has a 5 volt BEC so I need it in 4.8 volts. I saw a good deal on a hitec servo. Ball bearings, karbonite gears and 52 oz.in of torque and .15 seconds for 13 bucks. Is this good?

That will work however I would spend a few more shillings and get something a bit faster. You can look at the 6v speeds not the 4v.

If you going to spend 13.00, double your money and you will get a much better / faster unit.

Thanks. I couldn't really find anything faster in my price range on tower. Got any other reccommendations? Sorry for the stupid questions, I just want something that works.

Going back and looking at the numbers only, its not bad. The only issue to look at is it doesn't have metal gears. The servo saver / steering rack doesn't absorb the little impacts during normal driving and may cause the servo gears to wear out or crack sooner then later.

If you are looking for something to get you going and understand that you may need to replace it at some point, It just may be your ticket.

Again, It would not have been my first choice but for your situation looking for a budget servo its perfect.

Well, I was going to buy a new one, but I'm still unsure yet as to if I will because it's this or a revo. I would love a revo, but I just don't have any room to run it. I have an all grass back yard so.
