Dang, I'm jealous as could be...... demolition derby driver...... that must kick ass! Let us know how you do and definitely put up a vid!

I would love to see a vid!

I take my son to Riverhead raceway whenever they have a demo derby, he loves it. Last year they had a full size school bus derby, that was a trip.

A full size bus demo derby?!?! I bet that was sweet. I saw a video recently of a derby/race that was set up in a figure 8 and they all were towing trailers...LOL. It was the funniest thing I'd seen in a long time.

What's a Demo Derby Scramble? Fast laps, jumps? nothing I'm used to seeing when I think Demo Derby

The bus demo derby's are cool! They've been doing it for years here during the truck/tractor pull events. Back in the late 80's, I raced dirt track Figure 8, that's fun too.

I've never been to Riverhead, but I've made a few appearances at Englishtown and the now non-existent Islip Speedway. That used to be quite the hot spot in your neck of the woods.

a demo scramble is like the figure 8 but they changed it a lil bit, it has jumps, and an intersection...then a 180 degree turn...man it is a blast...the video isnt going to be that great cus at the very first corner i got hung up on a log...i was goin too fast lol...but i just have to charge the camera batteries

Them figure 8 racers race their cars like they are RC's. It looks like fun, but your gotta be insane in the membrane to be doing that IMO.

i dont think its too bad, there are plenty of safety features there, we have a steel bar on the door, incase we get hit, roll bars, the stock gas tannk is moved so it doesn't get hit, and has a shield around the tank....doors are wired shut, all glass is out....maybe its just me, my dad used to race at a dirt track, but didnt have the money so he started doing these derbies. my cousins all ran them when there were a lil bit younger, so it just came natural to me....this was my 5th derby, and sunday will be my 6th in 2 years...lol I'm addicted

alright, did good at the demo derby, got the video but it is going to take a while to upload...and i have to work in the morning...so i gotta get to bed...lol...i will post it for sure...i would have won it if i didnt have a cheating car (took 2x2 pipe and welded it in the frame) hit me and buckle my tires....then the steel gas line broke, but she still runs...lol...it was a blast, will also have aftermatch pics of the car...

Islip Speedway was the very first race track I ever went to. When I was about 7 or 8, every summer I would visit my grandmother here on LI, my Uncle sold beer at Islip, Bob the beerman, he was a legend in his own mind, lol, and he would always bring me to the track.

It's really sad that so many local tracks are closing up and going away. Just a few I have been to that are no longer there. Islip Speedway, Hialeah Raceway, Asheville Speedway, and they even used to run what was the first cup races, the grand national series at both Islip and Asheville.

Support your local tracks!

for some reason it isnt bumping to the top when i edited, so i am gonna do a bump, thought some of you might get a kick out of whats left of a 92 cavalier z24 ...
