Neeeevermind....I took it out today and used Top Fuel and it shifted into second with no problem. I just need to fine-tune it and probably raise the idle a little bit as it is fluctuating like it wants to die. My temp reading is between 240 and 250. Runs like a beast! Thanks for all the advice. I will post pictures later on.

Like I said, just be patient and run it in like the boys that made it tell ya to!

BTW, for what it's worth, I only run Top Fuel 20% in mine. Starts like a charm and really helps the temps and the plug life.

I've tried both Sidewinder and Top Fuel, both 20%, and I have noticed that the Top Fuel results in lower temps. The only thing is that right now $$ is limited for the next couple of weeks and paying $31-something for 3 quarts, shipped, is not an option. I'm going to have to use the Sidewinder (I have one gallon) for now until I can get some Top Fuel. Oh well...

That's bad news, Red Baron. Hope you can find a local source and if you do, buy as much as you can afford, within reason. The stuff does expire, in a chemical way, so buying too much can be as bad as not buying enough. Enjoy that new truck!!!!

Thus far, I have been unable to find a local dealer that has 20%...plenty of 33% though. Notice the grill I cut out in effort to keep the engine cool. That and the hole in the window work to keep the temp. at around the 260 range. Could be cooler, I think. Any ideas to keep it cooler?

I'll try a few more modifications to the body to keep that thing cool until I can get my hands on more Top Fuel.

Check out RAMTECH RC here on the forum. THey have grill inserts that you can put on the top your lid to direct more air to the head

Grill inserts? I only see Ram Air Hoods....are those the ones you're talking about?

No prob. I'll look into them. For now I'm going to trim down the piece between the back window and the cooling head so that there's no vertical piece blocking the airflow.....know what I mean?

Yeah kinda like a sliding rear window on a new Toyota TUNDRA.

Just know if you trim too much you are more prone to the lid caving in on a roll over or a flip gone wrong.

I'm going to trim the vertical piece on the bottom of the window, not the top. That should avoid the collapse problem, no?

The guy at the LHS gave it a tune up for our altitude, he said. He messed with the HSN, LSN, and the idle. Still running pretty rich. Here's a picture...is this normal?

Those parts mate on mine, no gap. Also as Jon2 said, I can't understand why your hobby shop tuned an unbroken in engine. Set it back to factory settings immediately!!!!! Use this for the slipper assembly http://www.traxxas.com/products/nit...xas-explodes/Revo/Revo Transmission Assy.html. The stock settings for your 2.5R in this article http://www.traxxas.com/support/troubleshooting/expanded/trouble_exp_trx25carburetorpro.htm

I already finished the break-in process a few days ago. The guy at the LHS said that he tuned it for the altitude here and that it was still very rich for the break-in process. It was dripping stuff out of the exhaust the whole time after that. Now it's running like a monster with no problems. Thanks for the help.
