I got the tube chassis at the same time I got my Losi Mrc but hated how the esc was hanging out the back unprotected and I really hated the chrome look, its so shiny you can't tell the front from the back. I had attempted to make body panels from sheet metal as an attempt to define the shape but gave up on the chassis and went back to stock.
Recently I acquired all new electronics and motor and had to move the esc on the 3 link, and placed the receiver on the tranny. I wanted to use flat irons but didnt want to tear up the body so I got out the chassis and painted it black. It looked great and mounted it up. Just assembling the paint would flake off and the shiny chrome would pop out.
So I tore it down again and media blasted the chassis. I then blued the whole thing, about 20 coats of what little blue I had left from another project. It was used so it wasn't as strong as brand new, but gave me a surprising effect, shiny gun metal gray instead of a dark black. Looks awesome and wont flake off or chip like paint or powder coat and can be easily touched up.
I also made some lexan body panels, which was very had as the side panels have a few compound bends in them as the tubing splits directions up towards the front shocks, not the typical even run.

Let me know what you think LOSI MRC HBZ 1 NINER CHASSIS

Nice, but you should get some little black zip-ties. Get 'em at Lowes or Home Depot in the electric section.

I know, this was done late last night and thats all I had. I going to try to find some today I just couldnt wait to see how it turned out.

The blueing looks great... I may have to try this.. Got some left over from a shotgun I was re-doing... Nice job..

I believe if I had the correct media to blast away chrome it would of been darker like I wanted. The lower rectangle part the 3 link connects to is aluminum and I blackened that with a chemical and that turned out perfectly black. But the gun metal gray finish looks really nice. I will take higher quality pics and post them later, and I just got the black ties.
