HI,
I have a second hand OS CVRX 15. When I give the engine some power (not very much) the engine makes the sound that you normally hear when you have an engine running very lean and you give it power.

I am running the engine with 2 1/2 turns on the main mixture.

My standard AE 15 has more power than the OS.

The compression on the motor seems fine.

What are the main symptoms of a dead engine / what may cause this problem?

Thanks

Usually, an engine thats on its last legs, will only run (crappy) for a few minutes til it heats up. Then it wont start again until it cools... Thats a tell-tale sign that your due for a rebuild....

Its hard to explain, I will try!

When you give it power, it sounds like its about to stall.

Sort of the sound when you have the Engine running VERY rich and you give it power.

Sort of sounds like its about to stall.. But you can have full throttle, the wheels will hardly be spinning.

When at full throttle the motor reves slower than idle.

If I very slowly give it power, it will evenly have some speed @ the wheels. But I need to have the wheels in the air to do this.

Thanks

Do you end up with a ton of fuel coming out of the pipe? Sounds like its dumping fuel faster than it can burn it....

Yes! i went through over half a tank while it was doing this.

you are running it too rich at 2 1/2 turns. i usually run my 15 cv-rx at 1 1/2 turns on a warm day. you should reset the carb to the factory settings and lean it out from there.

factory settings according to OS
rotary:
HSN- Open the Needle-Valve 2 turns from the fully closed position.
LSN- 1/2 turn in from flush

slide:
HSN- Open the Needle-Valve 2 turns from the fully closed position.
LSN- 2 1/2 turns in from flush

Here's the manual for furthur reference.
