Build Showcase David's Rusty the Rustler

Got it at my LHS back in 2020 (Covid time) and was my 2nd RC and thats when I started to get more into the hobby. Started off as an XL5 model, now upgraded to brushless.

I used onyx brushless in mine, probably around 4000kv. They were about $75, nw no one sells them.

You have to fine tune the clutch to keep the front tires on the ground!

Buy stock plastic slash 4x4 bell cranks (TRA6845X) for your Rustler, they have a built in servo saver that is much better than the servo mounted ones and they are stronger than the old white plastic stock stuff, cheaper than aluminum too. You have to trim the chassis a little because the arms are shaped a little different, the instructions packaged with the bellcranks tell where and how much to trim

I've been happy with my current setup and don't plan to change it unless it actually breaks. Currently using hot racing aluminum rack with the cf center drag link. And a tlr 22 25t aluminum Servo horn. Personally, I don't like the feel of servo savers. From my experience with the stock traxxas ones they are really sloppy and the spring always pops out.
