I just finished watching david letterman and he did a bit on toys for kids this summer and he had an e maxx as one of the "toys". He then went on to drive it and chrashed it a lot. This made me mad because he said it was for kids. And yes I'm not an adult but I payed for my Revo. I'm probably way way over reacting I just was offended to see him say it was a kids toy. If he didn't care for it he can give it to me.... Anyways just thought I'd share that with everyone.

I did this on my iPod by the way so it's probably not so neat.

Granted, he may have made it look like a toy, but you can only imagine how many of his viewers out there saw the segment, and thought to themselves "forget the kids, I want one myself!"

Remember, any exposure for the hobby is good exposure.

you really have to keep an opened mind about these type of things. From the outside, most people view our rigs as "toys" because they remind most people of "toys" they had when they were younger or "toys" they bought for their children. Only the r/c educated folks truly understand the real difference between a "toy" r/c and a model r/c.

I saw it, and he said several times that it was close to a thousand dollars. I just wish I had been there to drive it and make it look good. Good coverage on the name Traxxas E-maxx on the shell, though.

Now thats a good one, LOL!!!!

I don't know of any toy rc's that cost $1000 dollars so hopefully people would get the idea that it is not just a little Tyco rc from toys r us or something like that...

i call them 'my' toys , i don't like when they call them 'boys toys' or 'big boys toys' though (for obvious reasons) why can't they call them big boys and big girls toys lol

but i guess we all feel differently about things...

I love my toys. And yes, that is what they are, Toys. Very expensive, and possibly dangerous toys. Then again, i called my motorcycles, boats, jetskis, and 4wheelers toys also.

Yeah, I call them my toys as well, but I don't consider them to be toys, I just call them my toys. I call my grizzly 660 4 wheeler a toy, my hot rods are all toys, etc...

But that's off the beaten track. We could drag letterman over the coals, but the fact is, its GREAT coverage for our hobby. With the commercials that are running for traxxas on NBC, the movie coverage, and now that the rock crawling segment is busting at the seems I think we'll start seeing commercials during 4x4 shows and such, I'm just thankful that letterman and the others are offering the coverage.

Yeah I was glad to see that he did mention the high price and that it clearly showed the name of the "toy". But the toy professional was at least I thought, showing toys for little kids. I don't have cable or dish tv so I can't see the commercials for this line of products. But if he was just going to crash it I would gladly take it off his hands. I just wish the professional toy expert said it was for older children or adults. But yes I call mine a toy as well.

i think everything you can have fun with is a toy. i still refer to my XBOX 360 as a toy and thats even when I'm throwing down the controller in frustration due to not beating the level in record time lol

You got her a mini topedo? You need to be very careful. I thought they passed a bill in congress to outlaw those things here in the US. Apparently, sometimes they were shorting out on a hard impact, and exploding internally on the chicks. The explosion left a large gaping hole compared to what should have been there, so the chicks never could get a man past the one night stand. They all sued for emotional distress and some from the Las Vegas area were even asking for lost wages. Congress would never have gotten involved, but that one guy that was trying to talk a dude into having sex in the bathroom, actually had a bad incident a short time later, and it became a congressional issue.

On a serious note, I'm glad to here that your girlfriend is interested. This can mean one of two things. First being the girlfriend is really interested, as mine was, and you really bought it for her. Now the second thing this can mean is actually what I see the most of. Here's what happens. A person gets bad off into the RC addiction, and already has several RC's that spend most of the time on the shelf because you can only drive on at a time. Then a new RC comes out, and you really want it, but the girlfriend or wife doesn't want you spending the money on another one since you have so many. SO, to justify buying another RC, you actually convince yourself that the girlfriend is interested, and somehow you use that to justify starting another project. I was lucky in that my girlfriend was really interested, but if the next one isn't interested at all, I will still be stocking to plan B.

Well, the good part bout her, is she has no say over how i spend my money. I help pay her bills sometimes, (school, car note, with only part time job) and so i get to do whatever i want with what I bust my ass to make.

If Letterman thought it was a toy, why couldn't he handle it? Don't tell me that E-max was kicking his butt!
