That Hulk 181 would be about 1000.00 - 3500.00 if it was 9.0 - 9.8 condition. It's only a 3.0 making it around 150.00 bux. I used to be a diehard modern book collector but the hype was the only thing driving the price up on them. A book released to day could be hyped up to 100.00 bux or more but end up being 5.00 bux a year or so later. This was a big issue back in the 90's, There was a Spider-man 1 Plat edition that people wanted a grand for. I bought this but a few months ago in ment condition for 75.00 shipped. There is a few modern books that has held on to their valve thats been released in the last 5 years but it doesn't happen that often. Ulimate Spider-man is one of those books and probaly is that way since you got a string of movies out already plus another one in the works.

If I suggested anything to some one collecting books now days, buy what you like and enjoy. If you want investments, I would probaly hold on to some extra coin because the market will probaly crash causing prices to fall. Thats just my own prodition though lol Anyways, if you buy investment books, get grale books and in good condition.

I never really did the collection for investment...I just got hooked on Xmen from a friend and then started gettign into the spinoffs from guest appearances....I remember the early 90s comic craze when Image started up....there was so much crap and my cousin wanted to collect them for the value.....we went to the comic store and they were already marking up the comics over cover price on some....any idea what the death of superman is worth...I found mine still unopened last night after posting......

ha! sorry Plaid. the whole death of superman thing was king of the 90's hype. i remember you couldn't find one of those for less than 100 bux some places. now? $18 mint condition. i just recently got one 'cause i couldn't afford it when it came out. the whole 90's was a really bad time for collectiong anything, i think. everything i have from the 90's is near worthless. even some sports stuff i bought back then. 80's and recent stuff is great but 90's = pewp. well, from an investment standpoint, anyway. i still like reading a lot of the books from back then. so how do you guys keep track of which books you have?

You just had to mention death of Superman didn't you :( I'm pretty sure these books will go down in history as reasons behind the crash much like all those pointless countless number one issues they put out. Then lets not forget the books they printed out saying it was a limited variant but still printed out the same number of them as the regular issue :nono: Anyways, I'm still looking for a Platinum Superman 75...just to have one. I bought a fake off ebay a few months back that has me pissed. It's a long story I'm still working on:angry:

I just bought the death or superman for my nephew for Xmas brand new in the sleave on ebay for $1. I thought that one would be worth a lil something too..weird.

yeah all the shop owners around here had like a million of em and they were saying they were sold out. "but i can get one for you if you really want it...." then you had to pay like 60 bux for it and they all had 20 copies in the back.

I just bought one off the rack when it came out just because I was walking by a comic shop and they had them JUST IN!!!
Tucked it into the lil box I kept around and it's still there....ta da...that was a waste of space I guess...I never read DC...they sucked....

Check out my other romance, horror, super-hero, L.B. Cole and other cool collectible comics. I will combine shipping on multiple orders. Thanks for looking.

Hey, TS, he sells "romance" collectibles, too. Maybe you and Beason should check that out...

Yes, I snag all the Highlights from the kid's dentist office...WHAT OF IT! I figure, for as much as I spend on cleanings and crap like that, especially on baby teeth that will eventually fall out, a copy of Highlights is at least somewhat worth it!

About the only thing I've collected is every Sports Illustrated since I started my subscription in 1992. Got every one of them! Also have every Playboy I got when I was in college, including the issue with the Brazilian triplets!

So Rancher, you getting your AARP magazine yet? I hear it comes in big print!

Couldn't read the last part of your post MW, too small of print. Can you shout that into my ear horn?!?

My step mother threw out the only playboy I owned....the first issue....she found it in a friggin bag in my comics (she was looking for satanic refferences in them when I was in school one day)....man I could kill her for that and a few other things she's done.....BITCH....

Hell and I drag race on top of Collect baseball cards, comics, watch local Hocky games ( yes we got one in west Texas lol), and drive RC's. I'm pretty sure I'm forgeting something but oh well lol

Oh and I got some stuff on ebay for sale now if anyone needs some misc Spiderman books or cards. I'll be posting some RC stuff I think later today, just click on my other auctions. I'm debating on selling the Mini T and Tmaxx. I'm thinking of getting some other 1/18 scale car like an RC18 or Mini LST.
