My first build from just the wood kit, this one has taken a lot of time and effort. I glued the wood frame together over a year ago, before I even was solo certified at the club, and it sat while I built up other skills, both flying and building. This brings me up to 4 builds by Dancing Wings, none have disappointed so far.
The leading edge starts as a square piece of balsa that you sand into shape, a Dremel with a sanding drum did most of the bulk removal and then the kit-supplied emery board did the rest.
Covering was probably the single biggest part of the build, it doesn't seem like a high part count but it adds up...
Cutting the hinge slots took a lot of care, especially with the time invested at that point...
I bought a Cox Pee-Wee .020 engine on eBay, which also sat for more than a year before I even tried to fire it up, which to my surprise ran without any work at all. I gave it fresh gaskets since it would leak, and now it's good as new:
It all pays off seeing it in the light:
