damn ez start

ok so i just got an igniter cuz the one in the wand quit got the truck started (which is a s-maxx 2.5) ran about ten min flipped if an couldn get to it fast enough it died an after about 5-10 sec. of crankin with the ez start the sound kinda died down then just quit like it was flooded so checked it wasn flooded then said hey the batt is dead its not that but when i try to crank it the motor like wont come on let it sit awhile it will turn maybe 20 revolutions then stop an the light will go out can anyone help me i would really like to play with my toy thanks in advance
 
When the wand gets "overworked" it hits a safe mode. Which in turn, allows the engine to not crank over due to the fact that ya could harm it. You could have excessive fuel inthe combustion chamber. The Manuel suggests, allow it to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove your plug, flip the truck upside down and give er a. few bursts. it honestly could be flooded man. Hope this helps.:)
 
that was the first thing i checked cause i thought it was flooded but it wasn so i let it sit maybe at the least half an hour an still doin the same thing could it be a bad OWB?
 
Yea, check the owb next. Obviously if that's slipping ya need a new one. Ez fix though. If you crank it over and your piston ain't cranking up and down, its definately the owb. I just changed mine the other day. Works slick as s&!@ now.

could it be dirty? or gummed up cause its turnin the piston an everything
 
What do you mean by "the motor won't come on"? And the "light goes out"? The light on your optidrive? Take that out and put forward only in it. Reverse in these things is junk. In my opinion. I put foc in mine, wouldn't change it for the world.,of your owb is spinning your shaft, then you should be ok. Yea you can clean it, but it sounds like its doing its job. You got a good charge on all your batteries? Hmmmm.....need more info I guess.:\
 
the ez start motor will turn over a few times then drag down like the batt in my wand is dead then just stop but i know the batt aint dead i charged it for over an hour an the motor light on the wand just goes out when the ez start stops turnin the motor over i do believe is has the FOC on it cause i can not get it to get reverse at all but not sure about that an i dont know alot about this so whatever u need to know just ask an i will tell to the best of my knowledge thank you all for helpin with what little help i can give you :)
 
ok i think i figured out my problem there is what looks like a race for the OWB an that is cracked an lodged in on the bearin so in about an hour callin the LHS an seein if they have a pull start is there anything i need that wont come with the pull start?

the batt for the wand is a venom 1800nicd 7.2 volt
 
ok got it runnin with the pull start so much eaiser to start but still need the igniter to start even after runnin any amount of time any suggestions to what could cause that?
 
You always need the ignitor. That's gonna become your best friend. Lol. Your engines warm, but the plug needs to be "lit" in order to cause ignition. You'll be carrying that ignitor with you every where you go. Sooooo, ya think the pullstarts better? I'm thinking about switching myself. My ez start gives me one more headache, and its gone!!!! LOL.
 
sounds a bit like what mine did ...i would always need a freshly charged battery to get it started and like you , it would not last long ...even with no plug , my ez-start was having a hard time ..i knew it was not normal ...but i fixed it... .a gear was to tight on its shaft in the ez-start ...had to grind it a bit ...and now it works great ...

here is a pic of the problem gear ...that one in the pic is ok ( diff ez-start) but I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with a starter that had that problem ;)

That one gear that's showing right there is the one you ground down? How did you go about doing that? If ya don't mind me asking? I love the ez start and I've gone through 3 batteries trying to get a good solid charge. I can't figure out what's wrong. I could charge my 1800mhz battery for 3 weeks and it'll die after 20 or so "bursts". Is 1800mhz too small of a battery? Help me out man. LOL:\

lol...yes ...it was REALLY hard to turn on its shaft where you see it on the pic ..i had tu use pliers to move it and get it off ..

i used a small grinding stone on my rotary tool ...holding the gear with vice-grips ( not to tight ,,not to damage the teeth) ..and grinded the inside of the gear till it would fit and spin freely .... you could maybe try to sand down the shaft to ..it only plastic ...but not much place to work ....

i love the ez-start to ;) ....my buddy has a pullstart , and its ALWAYS broken ..lol.

my batteries are just 1500mah ...and i have no problems at all now ....i was thinking of getting a stronger one ...but since that gear is fixed , its all good

no problem ;) if i can help ..all the better ;) ..i had burnt a brush in the motor to before the gear fix ...took a brush out of an old hair dryer :p ..was the exact same

and dont forget ;) when you drive it ...ALWAYS drive it like you stole it ...lol...ALOT more fun ...lol

this thing is really pissin me off now the front bulkhead is snapped an the front skid is holdin it on an zip ties lmao but now its actin like it wont hold a tune took it to a game an was playin with it before an it was dyin out at WOT an its set to factory settings fuel an glow plug are new so gonna mess with it after i get off work tommorrow hopefully i can get it goin i am gettin tired of lookin at it on the stand o an by the way i love my pull start so far
 
You took a brush out of a hair dryer? Man you really are a macguyver. Lol. I woulda never thought of that. If I don't get this straightened out, its back to the pull. But I ain't giving up yet. This damn ez.start WILL work the way its supposed to. Lol. Peace.

Sounds lean. If you can't get it to tune, the engine probably has an air leak. A loose tank cap, header, exhaust coupler and fuel lines are the first place to check for leaks. Loose head bolts will cause a bad leak too.
