Here is my custom made MRC X Chassis.
Still very much a prototype I'd like to make it better any suggestions would help.

Currently it allows 3 postiions for mounting the shocks..
Not sure what the Benefits would be on the diffrent postiions it only raises it a little higher.
But I'm guessing the angle of the shock also makes a diffrences.
(Sorry I just started crawling dont know all the details of making a better crawler yet.. lol)

I've also added a lower body mount option again it's not much lower...
but any lower and the body starts hitting the chassis.

Again this is very much a prototype.. Any suggestions to make it better
would be much appreciated..

Here are some pics below.

Ok so here is an updated design.. any thoughts..?
I call it the X3 chassis.. because it has 3 places
where you can connect the Y link, the shocks and body mount.

Just a little info the stock Losi link geometry stinks, triangulate the lowers. I would look into a new skid if you can machine alum. the you have the tools to machine delrin. I would do away with the upper y link and build a upper link mount to run two links not the Losi Y link.

To narrow the chassis hang the motor outside the one of the TVP chassis plates. I would also reverse the tranny for better weight on the front tires.

In your pictures it shows the upper end of the shock leaning out, that is not any good at all. If anything I would lay the upper end of the shock in toward the center of the chassis.

Cool thats great info.. I'll remove the upper Y link
(now I can't call it the X3 lol)..

Is there a particular brand Two Link people favor over the Y link?
I could search the forum but it would save me sometime if someone suggested
a good replacement option..

And this two link would be good to mount higher over where the Y link connects?

As far as the skid now sure if I want to tackle that just yet. but will keep in mind making her thinner..

The shocks are easy to place on the inside of the chassis but as far as where the mounting holes are any thoughts on that??

The Y link would be considered the 3 link set up, so by getting rid of that you would actually be going to what is call a 4 link set up where the upper links mount like the lower links.

I'll have to tackle the 4 link connection later.. but here is my new chassis design.

Updated design again.. lol

The shock mounts can be lowered or raised to desired height.

The screw that mounts the shocks will also serve as a brace, going
across to the other side plate.

Having the shock mount holes at an angle helps with not changing the
ride height but I does still change a little. My concern with the shock
mounts angled up is that it will require you to cut holes in the body.

I know the design is very diffrent from whats out there... But the
beauty of this design is being able chance out the shock mounts

As you see in the image there is a straight and an angled option.
Maybe in the future have one with a 4 link option...

Any thoughts??

i wish i had these tools dude!!! i would make stuff for all these custom builds like every freaking day!!! hahah but looks really good!!! i like the losi design!! lol

I take my design to a local CNC shop to cut...

It's fun customizing but can get expensive..

there's a waterjet shop in my area and I got a price quote on my last project and it was $120 CDN. The price comes down after I order 6 units.

needles to say I cut it all by hand.

Whats CDN..? Well if you can make 6 and sell the rest so you can break even.

Ok got my MRC X Chassis, here are some pics.. I got it at the most extreme setting.. The highest high and lowest low possible with this X chassis.
