I was so pumped about Memorial Day Weekend. We always have a big family picnic. This was going to be the first year I'd be able to bring my Nitros and have some fun in the grass.

To add to the excitement, I had my new JR XS3 radio to install into my buggy. I was going to head down to the track on Saturday and kick some dirt into the air. The weather was forcasting rain, but I was still optomistic friday night when I started crackin on my radio.

I popped some batteries in and it worked great. I then proceeded to install it. An hour or so later, after swapping servos around, I turn the radio on again. I funked with the frequency and the trim a bit. I turned it off to mess with my break linkage. I turned it back on... nothing... the JR XS3 makes this "chirp" when you turn it on. No "chirp". no lcd. I swapped batteries... nothing... I called Horizon Service Center... nothing... I had to take the radio out, and box it up to send in for service.

That should have been my first clue that the weekend was going to be poopy. Saturday, I went to the track without my buggy. It didn't really matter because it was raining. I at least got to see it and meet a couple of guys that were working on the track.

Sunday, picnic day, my in-laws call and to say we're not having a picnic due to the weather. It turned out the forcast was uncharacteristically correct and it was a wash out. sunday evening it kind of cleared up and I was determined to run some nitro anyway. I took my buggy out, gave it two yanks and walked back in with a broken pull start. Later that night, I pulled the mill out and removed the pull start and somehoe managed to thread the cable back into the housing.

Monday was just was bad as the other days but the sun did break out long enough to get my hopes up. We piled the family into the mini-van (heading for the park). I figured I'd start it up before we got there -- to be sure. I gave it two yanks and this time the cord came off in my hand. I had spent a good half hour the night before making a huge knot in the pull cord and then even more time, trying to stuff it into the small space. It apparently wasn't enough.

The whole holiday weekend from friday night to Monday was just crap. We were house bound for most of it and my wife was pissed I spent the hours I did on the hobby. We had to take a drive anyway after the whole pull start crap. We just had to get out.

How did you guys fair this weekend? I saw that Ohio, MO, IL, IN were all mostly rain free. Maybe you guys had more fun than I did.

Well i had an ok weekend..It was raining here..But it got very sunny out on the weekend..It was way to hot out side on the weekend to do anything. It hit about 30ºC.I got to run during the later part of the day when it cooled down.Didn't even bust anything. My dad broke a lower a-arm on his maxx.I hope your week improves for you !:bling:

Novicerob - read this sentence aloud!! "I hate pullstarts. I will never pull another starter cord again. I will go out and buy a starter box." Now read this sentence aloud. "pullstarts are for newbies. I am no longer a newbie. I will go and buy a starter box."

Save yourself the pain, man - for the price of 2 broken pullstarts, u could have a starter box, and man, it makes life so much easier!

As for our weather down here, it was a nice 90degrees, suny, and with a smooth breeze. I managed to run my NTC3 around for a lil bit. Took my clutch apart, cleaned the inside, and scuffed/shaved my shoes. Man it just jumps off the line now! like someone kicked it in the ass!

didnt spend too much time bashing though, as all my friends with RC stuff were out of town.

Did take the boat out to the intercoastal waterway though, and cruise the beach, inlet, and surrounding islands. beached up on a sandbar and had a lil party. it was a nice weekend. laid back and relazing. only thing that i found wrong with my car, is that I'm in serious need of some new clutch pieces. such as pinion gears, they are all stripped, and the screw that holds the bell on, it is all thrashed. also need some new bearings for the clutch bell. not sure if i should invest in all that, or just step up t the plate and get a centax. hope you have better time at the RCNT meet in august, rob!

We had the family picnic Sunday at my grandma's place. She lives out in the boondocks. Plenty of dirt and jumps for some off road fun. I ended up going thru more fuel than I planned on but it was well worth it. :) Sadly I forgot to recharge the battery for my digi cam so I didn't get any action pics. DOH! And I left my recharger for the digi cam at home. Double DOH!

However this weekend looks like it is gonna suck for me. They have rain starting Friday and ending Monday. Go figure. I have this whole weekend off with nothing to do and its gonna rain. Maybe I will get that Hi-Tech servo and FOC ordered up today or tomorrow and install that this weekend. :)
