Ok i picked up a ofna 1/12 crt.5 and its a cool lil rig.
It has been swapped with a castle sct esc and a 3800kv 4 pole.
Has a 17t pinion in it and it seems to be slow to me.
What can i do to make it get up and move like the merv.
Also it bottoms out at small jumps.

I'd go down a couple of teeth on the pinion. That would help with the top end. Torque shouldn't be a problem since the 4-pole motors have more torque than the older 2-pole versions.

I thought the lower the pinion the slower it would go just more torque?

That's what I thought also, what's up hamz what've you found out?

I thought:
larger spur = more torque
Smaller pinion = more torque

Smaller spur = speed
Larger pinion = speed

Oh hey bud. Sorry we couldn't make that deal. I was really liking the merv

No prob, I so wanted that HPI. Might be room for one after I get ahead on some other projects. Nice CRT.5 by the way. If you really want it to move maybe you could look into a Neu-castle motor like I did. I found them by youtubeing. Type in Neu-castle power 1/16 e-revo, I was happy with what I seen.

So i found that because of the way the motor sits i was running in reverse. Facepalm*
Is it safe to reverse the black and red wire on the motor?
It was connected like that when i got it and i put it to mach the colors.

Yes, it is safe. That is recommended for the brushless combos that I've seen.

shock oil

For some reason no mater what i can't seem to get the dampening rate right on this buggy.
It seems way over sprung and it bottoms out at a one foot jump. So i went to 50w oil and still feels the same. I've played around and took all the preload off and on and tryed to set the shocks at a more flat rate like moving the bottom of shock out and top in and still feels like a new merv out thebox. You know you push it down and it feels kinda like theres no oil in it?
Anywa . The inside piston is a 2 hole and i figured that + 50w would do the trick but nope.

Anyone??

Heavier oil, I like 100w in the MERV for the very reason you mentioned. Start with 80w or so, and go from there.

I used 75w off the bat, for the MERV. just some extra leftovers from the FLM project. I think I should go up another 25w now, if not for performance then to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm going to get 100w.
Now thinking about it i put 50w on my tmaxx and it was stiff as sh!?.
I put the same on my emaxx and it was just right.
And then i used it in this crt.5 and i feel no differences.
All have the 2 hole piston but i notice not all shocks are the same.

The MERV is super soft and squishy out of the box. I upgraded to the GTR shocks, then did the 100wt oil, still need to order stiffer springs too.

Getting the MERV will curb your r/c thirst just long enough for you to realize you want it's big brother. The 1/10 e-revo, when mine gets here I'm throwing a Neu-castle motor on it.

I have CRT and from all I read most ppl put revo shocks in the front and 1/8 scale shocks in the rear
I have brushless roller if u want a parts truck sell it cheap pm me
