Crc ck25 pan car battery fit

I recently purchased a crc ck25 pan car and after building it I find that putting the battery into requires removing the front of the shock.
Does anyone have one of these and have you figured out a solution to this problem?

standard battery for a 1/12 scale is a 1 cell shorty not a 2 cell 8000.
