hello once again... it seems that my cooling head has had a run in with some pavement, and at first glance, i thought it was just the motor mount and the mount plate that broke. but when i begain the disassembly to put in the new parts, i discovered that my crankcase is cracked. the crack isnt bad, just enough to notice once you start to remove the motor mount, and its only cracked right along one of mounting tabs. i dont even have a gallon of fuel through this motor. now, i have read that it is not recomended to remove or install the crankcase bearings because they damage easily and slight misalignment could result in catastrophic engine failure.
i plan on getting a new block and swapping all the parts i can to the new block, cause its pretty much a new engine.
does anyone have any input on this situation? is it just better off to find a block with bearings? should i just call it a loss because of the possibility of bent interals? any help is greatly appreciated, and as always...the "Salvage" thanks you!
