could it just be tuning?

ill try that this evening after the batteries charge.i know I've got it close. i wasn't really checking temperature i just adjusted acording to performance. ill note where my needles are at currently and then go get a thermometer and tune it to temp.

Just remember when you do check the temp only check it right after a wot pass or 2 bc thats when your temps are gonna be at their highest. If you check when the car is sitting still and try to get the above 200 temps your gonna lean it out to much.

thanks bro.. so pretty much thats where these motors run the best is between 230 and 240?

no prob and every motor is gonna run best at a diff temp some closer to 220 some on up around 250 260, and some people on here say their motors run best up to 280 but thats to high IMO no two motors are the same tho as no two carbs will be the same you can take a tuned carb off of one trx 3.3 put it on another 3.3 and the tune will be completely off. but you dont want temps below 220 on any motor 220 is standard operating temp. And if your still having tuning problems it may be a good idea to go back to factory settings and go from there. 4 turns out from closed on hsn and lsn flush with the inner carb slide thats not the part that the linkage connects to its the lip inside that.

I'm pretty sure its close on my tune.. I'm gonna pick up a temp gauge and see how hot its getting right now. its still not throwing the the front end up like i think it can. but we will see.

just let us know and we will help as much as we can this site is awesome for advise there are some true rc guru's on here that are very helpful. If i every have problems this is the first place i go to

it doesn't just rely on temp though on the hsn does it?

yes and No the hsn is what is going to keep the motor from over heating. To rich and its not going to get over 220 to lean and temps will go up to 300 and even higher then somethings gonna give and the motor will most likely be blown. Like i said b4 warm it up make a couple wide open throttle passes bring it back to you and check and see how hot it is. if its a temp gun with laser point directly at glow plug. If its the smaller type hold it directly over the hole in the head to the glow plug and let off the button with it still over the head which will hold the temp it read, then read your temp. The only time you really need to worry about the temp is when your running it hard and doing wide open runs thats when the motor is gonna run at its hottest. And this is what will tell you which way to move the needle to get high temps lean lower temps rich. Also a good tune is what prolongs the life of your glow plug run to lean and your gonna blow thru them like crazy. Tuning is really straight forward once you do it a few time on a few diff motors. experience is the only thing thats really gonna get you confident with tuning reading a lot of diff stuff about it doesn't hurt either. I taught myself how to tune via google lol.

Also on t maxx's the the tank starts leaning at about half down so once you get it tuned where you feel it should be richen just a tad to account for the half tank lean associated with t maxx's. Dont worry hang in you'll get it it just takes some time trust me i been there

so... this could be AWSOME!!! or really bad will know in a couple hours. so since i got the truck a couple weeks ago the trigger was reversed for throttle and brake. and its bugged the poop outta me so today i changed it. had to do some servo adjustments nothing major.. well for shits and giggles i filled it up and tinkered with it a lil and to make sure i got all the adjustments right on the servo. THE FRONT END IS AS LIGHT AS A FEATHER NOW.. RUNNING LIKE A CHAMP!! but as far as the temp goes ill check that with the tune i have and I'm preying that i dont need to change a thing.

You will have to fine tune it every time you take it out. a good tune one day may be a bad tune the next the tune of these motors changes with temp and humidity outside. I've been running b4 and a storm blow in like they sometimes do in louisiana and my tune was automatically thrown outta wack

With it at 250 leave it alone for the day but when you get it back out warm it up and make a couple WOT passes and check the temp just to be sure you dont need to richen or lean just a bit trust me tunning is a day to day thing. And actually you could take it out one morning tune it and run it that evening and have to tune it again. I'm not meaning major tuning tho you should only have to move the needle a quarter turn one way or the other at most usually. A ton of people think once its tuned its done and you dont have to touch it again after that but this is not true. You may already know this I'm just throwing it out there so you dont damage your motor and 250 is a good temp btw your smoke looks really good on that punch for the wheelie that my fav pic

Thanks man!! And everyone else for the help. I've got to get some kind of wheelie bar for this thing. Any suggestions?

traxxas makes an adjustable one and a few other companys make a wheelie bar skit plate but it isnt adjustable. i prefer my traxxas one although it can sometimes be aggravating bc if your jumping and stuff it will come un clipped and you just have to clip it back but it being adjustable is nice bc you can set it to keep the front wheels just off the ground or where the truck stands almost vertical
