I imagine that you could tune it just fine, it just seems odd to cut part of the cooling head out.....

thats a possibility, I landed a jump weird and tore out half of my bumper mount if that means anything to y'all.
 
see but when u look at the picture its not a perfect cut so I'm thing maby he was bashing or something hit something and it broke it off so he filed it down to look that way i'm just thinking out loud but ya....
 
Well no it appears to be engineered that way. the pic was taken with a cell phone but there are absolutly no tool marks.
 
ya but if he used a good file or rock thing in a drill it doesn't leave a mark my grampa has one and he uses it on silver steel and u can't see it
 
yeah with good sand paper I can make anything look like it was machined.......
