i have a 3.3 traxxas engine running on 20% odonnel, its leaking alot of fuel under the cooling head it has one washer. maybe i should buy the set and install 3 or 2? also one screw tightens but not all the way the rest tighten up pretty good any suggestions? thnx.

As in one of your 4 head screws won't tighten down? That is most definitely your problem. The head has to be really tight and you need to be able to screw it down in a criss-cross pattern. Kinda like when you put new wheels/tires on a 1:1 car.

none the less do what 2revo mentioned. Maybe there is just some debris stuck in a screw hole? Or maybe the head screw is cross threaded? Try blowing them out with compressed air or something

i cleaned the screws out with wd40. i cleaned out the holes from the crank case with compressed air. i tightened up the screws and they go on pretty good. two of them slide in and then as i turn em they seem to tighten up maybe my thread in the case is messed up?

Tap them the next size up

yeah they tightened up better with a bigger size screw. also my spark plug didnt have a washer could the leak be from there also or ill be fine if i tighten it up good.

also can i get someones opinion on the condition my crankcase looks, as well as my cooling head and piston sleeve. is it in bad condition or it'll be alright? thanx again.!

Well what did it look like before you cleaned it,looking good after a cleaning doesn't mean its in good shape

i don't like the idea of putting different screws i want no leaks everything to work properly n sealed right, so i decided to buy a crank case, so well see how it goes from there ill let you guys know thanx for the support everyone! now to wait a week for the crank case to arrive.

yeah I'm going for it, and learn my lesson about not to tighten up screws so tight.

looked about the same

i didnt even know you could strip the threads... the hex machine screws seem pretty tough and i imagine the crankcase is just as tough. its not like you can screw it in diagonally seeing as theres such a long groove in the cooling head to straighten it up.

yeah i know, i thought the same but apparently they have a limit. you can snap the screws inside the block, strip the screws causing your cooling head to get stuck, or mess up your thread in your crankcase(block). don't over tighten your screws lol.

Aluminum is tedious when it comes to having a hardened steel screw threaded into it,especially in a engine giving that it heats and cools rapidly, whenever a steel screw is tightened into it and then unscrewed it takes material out with it,then when re threaded the loose material adds friction and in turn causes more material to be stripped from the "in your case a block" do this a few times and goodby threads, use a little never sieze in this case and it will help, when I say a little I mean a tiny bit of it

What about wd-40? Never sieze is one of those mysterious american compounds that we dont have across the water lol

Seriousely? That is hard to believe,wd won't really do the job,but I guess its better than nothing
