Hey Guys, I know this is kind of a Maxx question, however I figured I would post it here because has some questions specifically about the cooling head itself. I am looking to get a better cooling head for my 2.5 and I was looking at the stock Revo and the ACNCM head. Now the Revo head looks like it would fit without to much mod and I can get an RPM head protector for it. Now the ACNCM head is absolutely huge! It looks like a great head but it looks like I would have to dremel the hell out of my body and I have a three point rollcage already installed and don't know if that will affect anything. Also it looks like I would have to raise the body which is no big deal but was just wondering if I had to. How would you protect the ACNCM head? I have heard zip ties but does anyone have any pics? Thanks again.

Don't roll over or land upside down!.LOL The best way to protect it is to get some zipties and add them to your new head. Also run with a body as much as possible. It helps to take the blunt of the crash. Practice is really the best method . If your body gets messed up its ok it did its job.

Don't roll it over! That maxx spends more time on its back than the guy Mike Tyson knocked out in 30 seconds! :) I never run with the bocy off, the only time was during the break in period. Well it looks like I have to get a new Cooling head. I went to buy one at the lhs and I was told that I didn't need to change the head out. He said that he would sell me one, but added I would not see any better performance or ease of tuning by adding it. Thanks for the info.

That's something EVERYONE with a 2.5 would give him an argument on.
I don't think you'll find ONE person on this forum who didn't appreciate the reliability of that engine once they added a good head.

godale03, I would not go back to that LHS. Sounds like he is not interested in making money, or dispensing proper advice.

If you go with the Revo head you will get the Traxxas head protector with it. The one from the cast 2.5 head will also fit. No mods are needed to get the Revo head to fit the Maxx engine or body. I went this route as my wife did not want me to cut anywhere on her truck's "pretty little yellow body". (she also made me leave all the stickers off)
