When converting your maxx for BB power, do you think it is worth switching to a .21 conversion or just opt for one of the "medium-block" drop-in's?Negating the fact that there will need to be extensive driveline mods, etc, etc, is there any specific reason or need to go all out with the extended chassis?

The only real need for the longer chassis is to clear the rear shock tower with the exhaust port of the .21+ engine. That, and it gives the truck a little more stability.

I just got done converting my maxx to big block...if you can forgive yourself for the money that goes into a bb then its all worth it because you get a lot more power and like said before you get a little long chassis which improves the stabililty..

You ever think or a Sirio or RB .23? They are equally as good as most big blocks.

When going with a extended chassis BB conversion, it accomadates many more engines. Also, the stability thing...

If you can for go the loss of consciousness for the wad of cash it will take, go for a good conversion kit like the UE kit. Also throw in the UE diffs/trans parts.

I preffer teh short wheelbase...it is WAY more agile if you learn to control it.....the setup is very different too....but you still need to upgrade all teh stuff you & olds mentioned.......AND I'd recommend upgrading the chassis as well since the stocker is pretty thin

I had a pico .21 in mine (came like that used) and i don't think the previous owner did any mods to make it fit. It had a horrible problem of bowwing out the throttle linkage to WOT. I ended up replacing it with an OS .18 TM and its been great every since. (dropped right in)

I'm excited about this new 3.3 cause now it should be cheaper to upgrade the maxx to handle a beefier engine. I've been breaking driveshafts with the stock 2.5 so even the .18 engines have had me scared of going bankrupt. How do the revo shafts compare to cvd's?
