I saw this kit @ my hobbie shop. It was a "T-Maxx Conversion Kit" it came w/ a new chassis that could handle .21 and .26 and metal drive shafts and longer chassis mount things (4got the name) and i think a few more things. It was 149.99. Do u think it would be worth buying or should i just buy a new chassis and 1/18 scall dogbones that are used ion buggys ??? I think the kit was by Dynomite..............................

I don't know if you will find parts that will work if you don't do some sort of kit. You need a center set of axles as well.

From what I've read, the dynamite one is one of the better kits. I know the cvd's hold up pretty well.

I myself had the XTM conversion. It took some dremeling to get everything to fit right. To be honest though, I'd suggest getting a savage or some other truck that is designed for the power of a 21. The maxx drive train isn't strong enough and you have to dump a lot of $ into it. At minimum, with kit and engine, your at $250. Add trans gears and diff upgrades, then your sitting at about $400. With this setup, your still stuck with crappy traxxas bulkheads, shocktowers and arms. Upgrade all that and your at $600.

Save your money and get a savage...

Yeah, get a new truck. Upgrading isn't very good if you need to do so much to it that it almost triples the original cost of the truck itself. I was going to upgrade my old school T-Maxx to a 2.5 but after I realised that I need A LOT more to convert it, I said screw it and packed it up. It's gonna sit in that box for a loooong ass time now. Trying to make a Maxx handle something it was designed for and something that will take more than just the main aftermarket parts just isn't worth it. It's like trying to turn a 1986 Toyota 4 banger into a drag truck... lol

these guys make a good point.i would just save the money and get a savage or a mgt.
it doesn't seem worth spending all that money for the conversion.

If you have to have a maxx that can handle a 21, you can do it. It just isn't very cost effective. Having a 21 (or larger), means more torque, higher gearing, higher speeds and harder impacts.

I have my little 18 maxx that's built to be 2wd and it's mostly aftermarket. The only stock parts on it are the throttle servo holders, the receiver box and the rims. Everything else is made by someone else.

I have built two of the Dynamite conversion kits. All of the 2.5 parts will work with it. The kit does include both center drives. Mine had Picco .26's in them. They are insanely fast. Almost too fast with the .26 if you want to know the truth. The kit is designed to be used with the 2.5 maxx. I have no idea if it will work for the earlier model t maxx. The pic is one of the two that I built from my gallery. I used all of the hop-ups off of my original 2.5 to complete this one. Changed the gear ratio with a new slipper and cb. you will need new metal gears for the tranny and the stock diffs will not hold up for long if you race on do any sort of serious bashing. Last but not least it will require a better set of al shocks over the stock plastic set if you have not done that mod yet. Very lightweight and it will wheelie on command.

FYI, never met a Savage that could catch up to it.

Yea when i get some $$$ I'm either goin 2 pick up the kit or just buy the 1/18 scale dogbones.....................Casue @ my LHS i kno the machanice (went 2 my skool) and the owner and i can get stuff real cheap and he had just put the OS 21 in his maxx and he bought Buggy scale dogbones and a new chassis.........I'm just goin 2 buy the kit casue i can get everthing dirt cheap...................w/out tax.............
