Lookin at getting a Savage 4.6ss kit.

But the Radio/Servos etc confuse the crap outta me...

It says it need a 2ch. Radio and a standard servo for throttle and a high torque servo for steering.

but if i want Reverse it needa 3ch Radio and anotehr standard servo and another high torque servo.

so does it need 4 servos if i want Reverse?

Savage ss4.6 kit says...
REQUIRES: Radio: 2-Channel with 1 standard servo for throttle, 1 high
torque servo for steering, and 1 standard size and torque servo if
the optional reverse module (HPIC8703) is purchased.

Reverse Module says...
FEATURES: Allows the Savage to operate in two speeds of reverse with a
3-channel radio system
REQUIRES: One standard servo
3 channel radio system (3rd channel must be switching type, not
proportional)

So the 'requires' of the savage states it needs 2 more servos, but the Requires for the Reverse Mod says only one standard servo.

this is where I'm lost...

any suggetsions for a decent radio and servos for the savage 4.6kit? i want Reverse so i guess i need a 3ch. Radio with switching type?

You will need a 3 channel radio and 3 servos.
1 for the steering
1 for the throttle and brake (Same servo)
1 for reverse.

Most radios worth getting are 3 channels.
I would look at the JR radios. They are a good value for what you get. There are other brands that are good as well.

The best thing to do is let us know your total bugjet for a radio and servos and you will get a lot more accurate answers.

where can i find the JR XR3i? i found it on HorizonHobby and eBay. Horizon wants $140 and eBay has a Buy It Now of $100.

anywhere else?

looks like a good radio, probably go with it.

Nope I think you lost it a bit there mate. You have radios that show temperature of the engine using a sensor, and speed, like the 'Sensor' this, posted here by me (post: Sensor... Wtf is it?!)

You can also install a data logger which captures that data for you while driving and then retrieve it with your computer for example... but i think you just need a 3 channel radio with three servo's in your case. Be sure to pick a strong steering servo with plenty of torque for the savage.

is the 85oz/in high enough trq servo? its what comes with the JR XR3i.

i edit'd my post after i looked at a few radios Izi lol. u just happened to post as i was editing. thanks for the into though.

it has everything, and is almost-NIB...says he used it 5 times, said it works great etc etc. however i doubt ill be able to buy it in time it closes.

so now its deciding between...

JR XR3i - horizon sells for $140 just needa nother standard servo
or
Airtronics MX-3 - tower sells this for $120 with 2 servos, jsut would need a high trq servo

I can chime in for the Futaba 3PM....but for the throttle//brake I'd recommend getting a better servo as well.....for steering you need at least 130oz.....the Hitec 645 is a decent servo for that and they have a similar model that's good for the T/B servo too....all that should be less than 200....and it's a pretty good radio to boot...
