RC Driving Style
  1. Bashing
  2. Racing
Right now i have 2 tmaxx. 1 has 2.5r. The other ofna/picco.21. "waiting on carb orings".
Hope that does it.. I want something awesome.. I'm into bashing and pushing trucks
To their limits for speed and power.. looking for DURABILITY SPEED and POWER!! I had in mind revo 3.3. Or
Savage xl. after looking at both would a truggy fit my driving style better??
Any help would be cool...

Kinda leaning that way. If i go with the 3.3 what should i upgrade first? I'm not sure the 3.3 will
have the power I'm looking for. Of course it is much lighter than the xl. I'm working on a
Ofna/picco .21max. Would that drop in a Revo as well?

The O.S 21tm drops straight into the Revo & accepts the easy start set up, nothing else to change. Picco 26 accepts the easy start but needs a new engine mount I think.

If you are going to push a 3.3 Traxxas engine to the limit you might as well order a good connecting rod for it because you're going to blow the stock one. You might as well change it before it breaks and does damage to your engine.

Great advise.. Right now I'm running a 2.5r. Will i notice a difference with the 3.3. Or the
Ofna/picco .21max. Kinda new at nitro. If there is a big differrnce mabye i wont have to
Push the motor so hard. Still leaning toward the revo.

get the revo and run it till it blows up bout 4-5 gal fuel see how you like it then make ur mind up.and yes the os .21 is grt-8drop in and go the first thing i would buy would be the ext.rear control arms, badlands tires, foward only conv.,roto starter or pull rope, glow plug igniter.the ez-starter sucks!and get rid of the opti-drive.

just have fun with it,thats the hobby.

I would get a Savage XL as its more durable than a Revo out of the box. Then when I had the money if you want to power it to the max Id buy a modded Picco .28 from Robin at ERCM and then when I had the money Id buy one of his tuned pipes to go with it. Thats just personal preference but it would be durable and powered to the hilt!

You have to decide what kind of performance you want. The revo is plenty tough but handles very well and can be tuned for better handling.
The savage is lengendary for being tough, but they don't handle like a revo......not even close.
Then you have to look at parts availability....unless you are buying everything online and are willing to wait it doesn't matter much. Traxxas parts are in almost every hobby shop everywhere.
If you buy a revo, your best bet is to ebay the engine and put the money toward a Picco .26 or OS .21tm. Ebay will easily fetch you 110 bucks for the unused 3.3.

The 2.5 and the .15 are basically the same. 2.5 Cubic centimeters equals 0.152559 Cubic inches . The 3.3 ci = .2013 cc's. The 3.3 runs great and has more guts than the 2.5. The only thing that anyone could say negative about the 3.3 is that the piston rod is no good stock. It is weak on the top because of a bad design and it is going to fail sooner or later. The upgrade rod cost $40 and if you plan to run hard (which we all do) it has to be replaced with one that won't break.

So my picco .21 maxx isnt much larger than the 3.3. HMMM!!. I definatly want performance.
Revo seems to fit both classes. Can be bashed or raced.. Rpm for the arms? And alum bulk heads.
Why foc? Not sure what opti drive is. Havnt had any probs with ezstart. I do have pullstart and
Igniter. Those couple questions need answered. Then looks like I'm off to the lhs... I love it there!!
Just want to make sure I'm making the right choice.

The FOC eliminates the reverse making the transmission a bit lighter and stronger. I wouldn't bother with aluminum bulkheads. I beat the snot out of my my 3.3 with a Picco .26 Maxx and haven't had any problems.

Optidrive prevents the trans from shifting from forward to reverse while the truck's in motion.

Thanks alot.. Any one know what orings i can sub for picco .21 max carb needles. can't even get them
From factory. Please help....

Are they torn? Or just dried out/shrunk a bit?? If they aren't torn, you can take them out and coat them in AE 'Green Slime' for a few days(letting them sit on the work bench), and they'll often come back into shape and swell back to normal.

Torn.. Looking like i wasted good money trying to save a few. I really want to c it run.
Hopefully someone can help

O rings

You might take them to an auto parts store and see if they have some. Go to a NAPA or local owner type.

The Revo is a great truck. Just run it like you get it and when you break something, then start upgrading. RPM arms are good. You probably don't need alum bulkheads unless you break the ones you have. The opti drive control is completely useless and all it will do is create you problems. (because it never works the way it should) All it does is assure that you don't shift into reverse while moving forward. (so how many people try to do that anyway?) The FOC trans gets rid of all the reverse gears and reduces drive train friction which leaves more power to be used going forward. Having reverse on these trucks is really pretty useless anyway.
