Computer router question

I have several computers hooked up to a hub. The hub then plugs into my wired router / VOIP Gizmo.

My Wii has wirelss built in. I have a wireless router that isnt hooked up. The only thing I want to use wireless for is the Wii.

Here is my question.
Can I just plug the wireless router into the hub, configure and secure the wireless and be up and running? I thought I would ask before I started pulling my hair out. The router is a DI-624.

How about replacing your wired router with the wireless one? The router has a built in hub for all your wired computers (assuming you don't have more than 4), and then you'd have your wireless for the Wii.

I'm running a specialized VOIP router that is wired only. I would ALSO like to run my wireless just for the Wii.

Ed, I hooked a wireless router up to one of desktop machines that runs off the wired network at work. I think I bridged the two so we can access the network and the internet. I'd have to go back and look but I'm out of the office til the 18th.

Your thinking is correct just plug the wireless router into the hub.....I would configure it on a different sub net however for added security.

Soooo what ever IP address you are getting from the router now 192.168.0.1 or what ever......make sure the wireless router is set for another public net work.....10.0.0.1 for example....that way never the two shall mix......

Oh and just let the wireless router get DHCP from the Wired Router for its WAN connection and all should work out fine.:w00t:

Eddy,

Just set the wireless router to an AP mode as well turn off DHCP so that's still controlled by your main router. You should be good to go then.

Make sure that the encryption is activated on the wireless to keep jerks like me from war-driving and using your wireless to do terrible, rotten things online that you'd be responsible for....

Or set up MAC filtering... Or both. MAC filtering basically lets ONLY the authorized MAC id strings (unique to each card) on that router.
