as you all know, i have problems with plastic or composite carb throats...it pretty much looks like i will have to get a new engine, so it is down to the STS 30, or the ofna .32 or .28. do either of these come with a metal carb? the guy at the LHS said that he doesn't reccomend all metal carbs because when they get hot or warm, they do stuff to the fuel. i want to get away from the composite because of all the problems i've had with my HPI ones. if any of you do reccomend metal carbs, is there a motor that has one standard that is a good mill? i also got a hot bodies tuned pipe on the way, cause someone that owned the truck previously removed the baffles. i just got a new camera, so i will get some clear pics on of the linkages and what not so maybe you guys can see if i have something setup wrong. thanks for all the support! the "Salvage" thanks you!:wasted:

To be honest, I've always had better luck with metal/aluminum carbs and not so good luck with composite. Two trx2.5's and 2 omega/picco 21's all had composite type carbs. The 2.5's have a completely composite while the picco had an aluminum carb neck. None of them tuned well. The 2.5's had a tendency to bind over time and the omega's just had a horrible mid-range that couldn't be tuned out.

I love composite carbs. They seem to give me the least amount of trouble. Of the 2 mills you mentioned abouve...go with the STS 30...if its as solid as the 28 model, you shouldnt be disappointed.

I think my Axial 28 is composite... it hasn't given me any issues. I haven't run more than 3/4 of a gallon through that engine though, so I don't know what kind of wear I'll get over time.

Same here, I've had bad luck with metal carbs. I found them to vapor lock easier and make tuning very inconsistent. The composite carbs have been a breeze to tune. When I swapped out the metal Sirio carb on my Collari .30 for a composite Nova carb, the engine ran very consistently.

awesome, so now i'm back on the composite bandwagon...but how about their durability? have you guys had trouble with them coming loose or spinning and or leaking air? cause thats all i have happen...the :horsecrap carb gets loose in the block and i can't do anything about it.

i am just going to buy the STS 30, i have heard more people talk about that particular mill than many other popular ones, so i'm sold there.
