Compatability??

I'm running an X-Term and have been having probs with the C. Bell bearings. What I'm wanting to do is go with a different bell that uses larger bearings instead of the puny ones in the buggy now. I've been looking at the Savage bell but unsure of the pitch of either bells. Any info will be greatly appreciated......thanks

I have had a similar issue with my xterm, I finally noticed that I was making my gear mesh to tight. I use ofna clutch bells, they are a little more than hpi but are hardened steel. I beleive all 1/8 scale uses the same pitch on their bells.

You can't use the savage bell. It's not designed to run against a steel spur. Here's proof after 3/4 of a tank:

I've had good luck running ofna bells though. Their hardened bells are a little on the pricey side, but some of them come with bearings that also last a few gallons before they get iffy.

I just checked hobbypeople.net for the parts list for the xterminator for you. Apparently, your running a 13T bell with 5x8 flanged bearings. Your right, that totally sucks.

Give this bad boy a try: OFNA 13T Bell w/2-5x10 Bearings That should give you better results. I used that one on my HB buggy when I was trying to gear down to run SUT tires... wasn't enough.

If you ever want to gear lower with a 12T, werks makes a 12T that accepts 5x10 bearings as well. But I think they are almost the only one. I found it at www.stormerhobbies.com

Found the 12T as well, if you want to gear down at all: SportWerks 12T Bell, Uses 5x10 bearings
It doesn't come with bearings though. I used Losi bearings that I found at stormer since it was all I could find that was rubber shielded.

Thanks Olds..........I've been thinking about boosting the gearing up to a 14t maybe a 15t bell........where I run, the 13t runs out of steam fairly quickly and barely keeps up with my buds stock Revo.........can't have that.....LOL...........


Thanks again for the input on the Savage bell, saved me a headache..........

I'll go with the Ofna hardened bells, I'm sure those will be better considering the bearing size versus what I'm running now.......thanks again!!

Just do a search at tower for OFNA BELL. Just make sure to get the "hardened" ones or you may have the same problem I did when I tried the savage bell.

I run the OFNA vented hardened 14T and 15T on my savage. I've had the same spur/bell on my savage for 14 gallons... pretty sure it's the 14T one now.

For 30 bucks on ebay, I got a new clutch bell, (hardened) bearings, flywheel, alum clutch shoes and springs....

I'm watching a few on there now.............but going to the LHS wednesday so may pick up one there as well.............
