I didn't say you couldnt stick up for it.. who doesn't stick up for their car... just a little overdone is all i meant over the posts I've seen around outta you.

Nothing is 'indestructable'. All I was saying was imo the storm sits down the lower end of the spectrum when discussing 'race' buggies.. that's just my opinion - not everyone's gonna agree. Duh.

agreed.... I'm probably guilty of that (or at least I can think back to being that way a little in the past) so I see where your comin from.
humbolt-
I fail to see where you are coming from in the faster/slower regard. Any buggy can be fast or slow depending on powerplant, clutch, gearing, and exhaust systems.
These aside, along with weight (not going to make a huge difference anyway), the actual buggy has little to do with how fast its gonna go.
Slap a C5/086 combo in an Axis, along with a nice 3 shoe aluminium clutch with hard springs to find out what I mean.
On to durability - Slap a set of real metals on any 7.5 and you will have something quite, quite close to indestructable. (A K2 will provide that right out of the box). Parts might cost, and might take time - but the fact is you will rarely need them.
What makes you say the Ofna's are more durable? just curious... the learning never stops in this hobby...
I think out of the box, STOCK, the infernos take the gold for durability. Why? plastics - (pretty much) won't break. like I stated earlier - shock tower tops will bend if you flip/roll and hingepin braces from awful crash landings - fact is they bend back just as easy, and rarely cause damage to other parts.
Everything has its flaws, including the Inferno's - I can nitpick plenty of faults in this. But IMO the flaws on this car are the easiest to deal with, and once a few small upgrades are made, you've got a machine that will take hell. There are a million and one brand options for 7075/6061 metals for the 7.5 too.. making things even easier.
I like Storms for sure, (any decent 1/8 buggy is a favourite to me over trucks and the like) but to fix a storm up good and proper you end up having to do quite a few mods and changes to the original car (hmm the fioroni 7.5-style chassis conversion for the storm comes to mind... or a similar kit).
Ofna's appeal to me too (hell yeah... more goodies, less price..... quite the opposite to K)... all i've heard about is crappy CVD's on the 95pro's, and weak arms on the H7pro's (when you start doing crazy stuff) for the most part. Small problems..... might be difficult finding solutions though.
My opinions come from a nasty trashing/bashing point of view though.
On a racetrack, which is what most people do with these things - i'd go for options other than the 7.5 though - for sure.
The 7.5 has a record for being a real easy-to-drive car, but from what i've heard the Storm and hyper7's match up great, followed closely by the 9.5 ----- and this X5 turns the tables too... handling like a 7.5 (yep.. on rails) with better steering seems to be the commentary.
For the track i'd take an X5 right now - for sure. The price on its own makes it the perfect ticket - added to the basic 7.5 style design, with plenty of weight reduction in the almost all the right places - makes it a clear winner. The only reason i'd put it down because it isn't 'all that' over what was on the market previously.
Anyways excuse the post - its almost completely off topic.
