I am new to the nitro R/C world. I have a T-Maxx with a 2.5R engine. It's in the mid 40's and I can't seem to get it running right. It seems like the adjustments I make to the mixture have no effect. It hesitates to start and has no low-end power. I'm affraid of adjusting it too much.

Put a sock on the head........warm it up good before punching it.........it shouold come around....be careful of over adjusting anything. the traxxas site has more cold weather tips.

From what I'm reading, most people are starting their HSN at about 6 turns out for cold weather. It is about mid 40's here. Is 6 turns out a good starting point? Mine is at about 4 to 4-1/5 turns out and is very sluggish when I hit the gas. I do have blue smoke coming out though.

i am running mine in 15deg temps breaking in and just goofin with my 2.5 rustler i have plenty of low end power mine just cuts out on the top...but then again i am lucky to break 180temps. mabe i will through a sock on it

I wouldn't break in a new engine unless the ambient temps are at least above 50. You could have troubles keeping that thing running this summer.

If your breaking in, get some of those warm hand chemical hunting pouches and strap them around the engine head with rubber bands. I did that with an engine when it was around 30F out and it kept the engine from dropping below 80F at the glowplug.
